I cut old Rock loose...my walker hound...and he soon struck and treed on a den. I cut him loose again and he started getting deep and I decided I better get a move on in order to catch up with him. I soon encountered standing water and had to skirt around about 150 yds. While doing this Rock fell treed about 200 yds in and as I came around the end of the water I spotted eyes about 15 ft up and thought it was a coon at first until I got closer and realized it was a Bobcat! They are rare in my area and the last one I saw was 30 years ago! This one was not camera shy and let me take several pictures and he never jumped! I think he was curious...pretty cool!

Very cool. I have also only seen one here in NYS and although scarce, not very rare. Very nocturnal.

Wow pretty cool. A few turning up here in NW Indiana once in a great while. The DNR had seemed to be real hush hush about them, but now there is no disputing once they are on camera, or caught in a snare like we had down the road a few years ago. The DNR was called to release it but they got it so wound up it died in the process.

The Fish and Wildlife in NJ stocked several captured in Maine over 20 years ago . They are well established in northern NJ often turning up in snares or as roadkill .

That is pretty neat! I had one run across the 200 yard berm at our range here is NC about two years ago. Prior to that, the last one I saw was running up a ridge in Vermont while deer hunting. Richard

I seen one a few years ago in SE Ohio. I was standing about 10 feet from a downed tree and happened to look over and seen this head looking at me over the trunk. I thought "who's cat is that". Then it jumped up on the trunk and stood there showing me a broadside, a YOW moment! It looked at me like "what are you doing here" for about 10-15 seconds and then just walked down the trunk to the base and jumped off and disappered into the brush. I've heard what sounded like them fighting or mating a few times around the cabin in the past but never seen one. Supposedly there was one hanging around a local trailer park, a few small dogs came up missing after being let out at night to do their business. I guess a chihuahua would make a good snack for one.

Quite common in east TN and western NC where I hunt. I shoot one every couple of years or so as target practice. Saw a mountain lion in WNC while deer hunting in 2000. That was a challenge keeping my drawers clean! A CVA patched round ball flintlock had me feeling way under gunned!

Been getting trail cam pics last couple years here in southeastern Indiana. I saw my first bobcat about 6 miles from friendship 10 years ago and have seen 2 more since that time on the same farm. I sometimes wonder if the guy from redwolf sanc. lost a few of his as I hunt right down the road from there.

Love wild cats. I've only seen a dozen or so. One was truly huge cat in my opinion. At least twice the size of the 25lb or so other cats I've seen. Another time when in Georgia I was out catfishing on the Savanna river and heard a scream that sent chills down my spine, caused me to pack my crap and call it night. Had to be about 50 yards away. Learned later that it was a bobcat in heat. It was sound I will never forget.

Didn't take me long to shag back to the truck!
