Up here we have a rental company who will set up and tear down a 20X40 size tent with optional walls for the weekend for $325. It's just a thought for the future. And when the leads done flying we could all sleep in it....cots of course. Probably not want all the walls though with ham n beans.... I'm packing. My buddy says he is bring gators...said they help keep the ticks off. I said really...he said yes...and snakes too... Lol. If it's as cool as forecasted I am sure they will be holed up. I believe Jeff...there won't be a problem. Drop

We are staying dry, canopys and tarps are helping out. Here at the range as I am making this post. Been raining about 60 percent of the day so far. We have a brake in the rain for now. Some great shooting guns and great people up here at the shoot. Kyle

Well fellas.. It was a beautiful day today up until around 12:00,, then it started raining off and on up until just before dark. At times it was raining so hard that you could not see the targets at 100 yards.. Solid walls of water but that did not stop us from having a good time and producing some great groups.
I have all the scores for the match and will post them all probably tomorrow night with the top ranking shooters and their groups...
Bill, and Kyle were the first to arrive on Friday and we spent a few hours hanging tarps over the shooting benches providing us with about a 30X30 feet covering over the main shooting benches.. We then hung another 20X20 for anyone that brought a portable bench.. All in all I think we had 7 shooting benches and 19 shooters. Along with several pop up canapys everyone stayed pretty dry except for the target runners
Food for the weekend...
We devoured 5 gallons of soup beans, four boxes of corn bread mix, 5 pounds of smoked pork neck bones, approx 20 pounds of hamburger and deer steaks, a huge bowl of home made pasta salad, three packs of hot dogs., an unbelievable amount of bacon, 6 dozen farm fresh eggs, 10 pounds of fried potatoes, 5 pounds of Johnsonville brats, two gallons of spaghetti sauce, 5 pounds of spaghetti, a big bag of onion, 7 big green bell peppers, and three tubs of mushrooms.,,and several rolls of summer sausage.. along with numerous other fixings and snacks through out the weekend.. No one went away hungry..
All in all I'd say over 1000 rounds fired.. Every one had a good time today and all went to bed with a full stomach..
Little kash (chase) enjoyed the four wheelr ride around the farm and he shot some impressive groups for an 11 year old..
Lots of fun and friends ...
Others will fill you guys in on more of the action and I'll post the shooting results tomorrow... For now I'm turning in and calling it a long day.....
Thanks a lot.. Jeff Hankins...

Just want to send a big thank you to all that helped make shoot a success . Im sure details of events and highlights are coming but one thing stands out. Is how helpful all participants are if you go to shoot with a open mind the knowledge of other shooters and builders is freely given. Had a great time and once again learned alot and had a great time. Thanks to all and thanks for all involved.

This weekend has been an extremely good weekend. Folks on the board and others jumped right in to make the Kentucky Challenge a great success. As for me my shooting sucked for some reason but the meet and greet of everyone was wonderful. I'll diffidently be back. A special thank you to Jeff and Mindy for such southern hospitality and great food. Rick

I concour with Xring. My shooting was even worse... But as I stated in previous statements... Nobody had any more fun than I. The meet and greet was as Xring said. Wonderful to lay eyes on the people of the board and exchange handshakes and conversations. The building of relationships. Everybody chipped in. The food was great and plentiful.somebody said it was raining! I never noticed I was having so much fun( ). A personal thank you to Jeff and Mindy...again great southern hospitality...expected nothing less. Two very nice ,sharing people. I can't wait to get back down ther and do it all again....except the rain part....lol A great Big Thanks to ALL.for a great weekend Russell

at least the benches stayed dry, almost.. as did the targets, ever see a target with a portable roof? leave it to the southern boys to get er done! THE MAIN CAMP COOK, JEFF BLAKELY AKA DEADEYE the range: targets to 350 yds, believe it or not we actually shot off hand @ 350 LOL! Hunter and Kyle getting it done.. the top five shooters: conditions were very very wet, not ideal for precision shooting but still some decent groups. we shot the 100, 200 and some guys shot the 300 in moderate to heavy rain, we had to move the portable roof from one to the other.

I had a great time at the shoot. Got to meet a lot of people and see some awesome guns. Great job Jeff!! We were on the road for 12 hrs today getting home. If you eastern Tenn. guys would host a Challenge it sure would cut down on our driving time. Haha

maybe someday?
I will agree that a great time was had by all who attended. not a single harsh word and no mishaps, God is good! I will add some more pics in a while. A big thanks to Jeff and all who helped pull it off, everyone pitched in and helped, cooking and even washing the pots. the food was great and if anyone went hungry they were sleeping!
lots of fine deer sticks there and they made LOTS of noise..
