Today is the end of Iowa deer seasons. I was fortunate enough to take my 1st buck with a bow. My son shot his 1st deer. I filled the freezer during shotgun taking a buck and a doe. A lucky 140 class 8pt lives to see another day thanks to a small branch that I didn't see. Even my 325gr Hornady FTX was no match for it. I have hunted several days this season with my dad. He's 64 and still runs the woods like a young pup. This success story isn't in the harvest. It's being able to hunt with my dad and my son. To have been raised a sportsman and have a son who's equally as passionate about the hunt vs. the kill. I'm a lucky man and I thank the good Lord every day for all my blessing.

I finish out my Iowa season with a doe tag in hand and a nice buck at 70 yards feeding away for 30 min, no doe to be seen. You are right a big part of the fun of hunting is getting to spend time with friends and family and make some memories.
