Can anyone give me an idea on pressure and speed for a load of 95 gr of imr 3031 with a 270 emax bullet. Shot out of a 28" 1-20 twist barrel. 3/4 MOA at 100 yds.

I am gettiing about 2940fps with 95gr and a 310gr APB in my 28" Brux. I can't recall the pressure. Shoots lights out.

Depending on your bbl length... 2900fps and 40-44,000psi is my best guess.
I shoot that load with a 275gr in a 23" bbl at just over 2800fps.

How bad is the recoil with that load Linebaugh?

How bad is the recoil with that load Linebaugh? I don't notice much difference from it to the 72gr of 4198 I was shooting. It is obviously going to have more recoil due to velocity and the added 23gr of powder but I don't notice it. Recoil is stout but not overly abusive. I personally (IMO disclaimer) think 3031 is the best powder to run in the .45s with 275-325gr bullets IF you can ignite it. I am not having any issues with ignition and I have run it in LRP ignition and standard 209 savage plug.

Thanks for the information. I think I will give it a try.

If you do have a problem setting off the 3031, it makes for very accurate loads using a primer powder. I haven't pushed the 270's as fast you wish to, but 10gr N110 under 75gr IMR3031 gave just over 1/2MOA.

What kind of velocity do you see with that load?

I had no ignition problems at 95 grains and pressure looks like it should be good, might try and push it a little harder next time.

What kind of velocity do you see with that load? It was so darned cold the day I was out that I didn't get the Magnetospeed out. But I'm going to check speeds on Wednesday. Sorry.

Anyone tried 4759/3031 duplex....? That's what I've been shooting out of my 28" Rem/Brux. 10/85 with a 310apb. Shoots .5 moa and one good buck. I like it but not sure it's necessary. Just want to make sure it lights when it gets cold here. Hasn't yet but to chicken to chance it.

I traced two loads of 3031 with a 285 grain bullet/sabot combo using a LR primer. 95 grains gave a rounded less than perfect trace @ 37kpsi 5 grains of 4759 and 90 grains of 3031 gave a much nicer trace @ 47kpsi. Was my less than perfect trace due to a sabot or the LRM I don't know. The load TG shot with the straight load and a 300 grain bullet yielded a very nice looking trace. IMO, your shoulder will probably tell you to stop around the time pressure gets much higher edge.
