Very nice! And great group. Just for the heck of it,(also known as S---'s & giggles) see if it will hold that small with a 250 or 300 FTX or SST? So many time I see members post a great group with a premium bullet. It is interesting on the other hand to see what it will do with generic bullets. I understand you would want to hunt with the the most accurate one but if you shoot as much as I do, its gets hard to justify those two buck a pop jewels! Richard

sml- I did not modify the flame channel and primers look good no bulging .
Richard- I'll see if I can find some 250 or 300 SST and give them a try.

That's a great group even with the pulled shot!
The target action definitely appears to be a LOT stronger than the 10MLII action!
If the 3031 doesn't want to light up, it will still help getting great groups with a primer charge. I got very tight groups similar to yours with a duplex of 10gr VV110 under 75gr IMR 3031 using same bullet. That was with a SavPac. My RemPac also shot a somewhat larger but still MOA group with 5gr Green Dot under 70gr IMR 3031 and 275gr MH. The RemPac's BP uses a bushing for use with the GD.

I had shot some 3031 through it the same day and had no problems getting it it ignite, I'm going to try 85 grains of 3031 with a 300MH and see how they shoot also. I ran some of my 270E-max bullets through my buddies FF die that is set for his Brux barrel and it engraved the rifling into them good and they shoot the same as smooth sizing did.
That group was shot off of the bipod and a sqeeze bad in the rear, I think it would have been a little better group shot from my leadsled.

My question is how does the OP use his level out front of the turret.?

I can see the level laying behind the gun , just look over the parallax adjustment knob and see the bubble.

Markb,
Are you using the breechplug that has a primer seat? If so how are your primers doing? I headspaced mine for Win 209's using the Slufoot modified plug with primer seat in my Target Action build. They come out spotless and never stick.

Yes this is the plug with the shelf for the primer to seat on, primers are clean and have not stuck in bolt face yet.

Nice job me and a friend just finished our savage/Brux combos as well. Mine is done on a std. Long action and my buddies was done exactly like yours except a B&C stock. They both shoot lights out to at least 400 so far but were running too short on 327 MH to test any more right now with deer season starting tomorrow. They both shoot 1" at 200yds the Knight breech plug & nipple setup.

I've seen a few builds on here with the savage target actions but have never seen or fondled one in person. What is your impression of the trigger and do you think the action is anything above and beyond a standard savage action? Also how are you and the guys using this action getting by with the limited loading port. Perhaps its actually the same as a standard but the loading port looks small on these actions.
Great shooting and that is a full tilt bad to the bone shooting iron you have there. Congrats on all.

It does have a smaller loading port but its not hard putting a primer in the 209 bolthead. Trigger is light!! Takes some getting use to but I'm liking it. Action is drilled to run three action screws. About $525 for action, recoil lug, barrel nut and trigger guard. You just have to make sure you order right port, right eject. Mark put a new trigger in his. It does seem that when I adjusted mine for a heavier pull weight it wants to creep back down to hair trigger. I will know for sure next range trip. Might just be my imagination. I really like the stock. Looks like you needed to run a different trigger guard with floor plate.

The target actions have less flex, the loading port is smaller but I can remove and replace primer without looking at the bolthead. I am also using a bolthead baffle from a .223 so the bolthead is stopped about 1/2" in the opening of the load port. I don't like the target triggers on these action so I replace them with Rifle Basis triggers, I think I might try one of the SSS trigger next time.

Mark: Tell us how you like the SSS as compared to the Rifle Basis on your target action.

Don't have a SSS yet but the next trigger for one of my Savage's will be a SSS, I have three Rifle Basix right now.
