Swapped a barrel for a guy to a .45 factory, .452XTP's barely slide down the barrel with their own weight. Has anyone seen this? If so, what bullet/sabot combos have worked? I told him I would knurl the .40XTP/smooth blus Harvester enough to get up to two hand loading.

I have not heard this but it could be a benefit. If you could heavily knurl and use .452s sabotless without needing to size or getting a sizing die that would seem to me to be a plus. If you use the blue sabots and .40 bullets I have found the SSTs in 200 grain to be slightly larger and a bit more accurate than the 195 Barnes. They both kill quite well, not handicapped with either.

fishhawk, In my 45 barrels a .451 will drop right thru but a .452 bullet will not go down without a hammer. In it the tan mmp sabots fit the best but they are very inconsistent size wise. I had to knurl the 400 bullets up to about .403 with the harvester smooth blue sabots. In it the .410 bullets and the crushed rib harvester was too tight(70-80# loading pressure) and sometimes stretched the sabot petals. If you want a few 410 bullets and cr. rib sabots to try, I can send you a few. Also have some tan mmp's
