Believe it or not Virginia has a fish hunting season. In SW Va they shoot suckers etc in late winter on their spawning run. You get a tall step ladder, set it up in the river or stream, spread out some white gravel or such, climb up on the ladder and blast the fish as they swim under you. Need a "fish retreiver" downstream or you have to come down and retreive them yourself. Most use cartridge guns but historically muzzleloaders were the standard, as this started about 1740. Check it out and add another experience to your hunting!

Funny, the first thing i ever shot with my old T/C Hawken was a large mouth bass. We were on a railroad bridge and i thought it was a carp. I aim and shot and low and behold this bass surfaces. Now this was over 35 years ago and illegal to shoot into the water but at that time I was young and foolish. Mike

I been doing that here in Arkansas for years. Only I use a spear gun and instead of a ladder I take a scuba tank and get down in there to mix it up with em. Lots of fun and somewhat like deer hunting. Find yourself a good ambush spot and hunker down and wait.
