I have a Farrell one piece Savage picatinny base that I am considering using low Warne Maxima 30mm rings as it will let my WCE scope sit as low as I can get to the barrel. I think I only used Warne in one other instance. Any pros/cons to the same? They certainly are more reasonable in price than Talley/Farrell and a few others. Thanks

I like and use them that being said. They need to be lapped. I've used them on several hard kickers and had no problems except they leave marks on scopes until there lapped.

I hate hearing that, I have everything for 1 inch lapping but not the 30mm. Warne says they do not need lapping but then again most manufacturers are in the business of selling their product.

I have a farrell 1 piece base for my savage action also. It is the old style short and farrell is the only company I could find the make a 1 piece base as a stocked item. If I did the math correctly the warne low ring should be around .84 from top of base to the centerline of the ring. The farrell ring is .735 from the top of base to the centerline. I bought them for the same reason, as low as possible, but you are correct they are not cheap.
An a side note I needed Farrell to put a step in the front of my base so I could get the scope bell to clear and not hit when setting the eye relief. Talked to T.G. at Farrell and sent it back. They were more than happy to do it, it took about a week, they re-coated it, and it was 30 bucks shipped back to me. I am very happy with their customer service and will get another set or rings and bases from them for the next build. Super nice people!

I've used Warne rings on many applications. May not be the best looking, lightest or easiest to mount but I've never had an issue with any of them, even in slug gun applications. Lapping is Def a plus..

get Leupold PRW or QRW, they hold well, look good and I have never lapped them on a bedded Farrell. O and they are not too expensive.

Jims if you need to lap them I have a 30mm bar. I'm sure we could cross paths somewhere to do them.

Between myers and ohioguy I think I could get into trouble. My wife already thinks that is my middle name. I just live down the road on SR127 from them. To: kbrezlin: those are almost the identical measurements I came up with and Warne verified. I am thinking of trying a pair of Warne, I have tried all else from Conetrol, Talleys, Leupold,DedNutz,Burris, Weaver etc. so just wanted something different.

I have never had a problem with warne rings and bases. They are on my 220 slug gun and 10ML right now. The Farrell base is higher than most and they use a lower ring to get the same height. I like the higher base on the CF conversion to get my fingers into the bolt head with the one piece base.
