This is a 40 cal, 200 gr xtp recovered from a deer (expanded .67 at 135 grains). Shot with a SML at ~2500 fps. Quick, human kill at 75 yds. My son took another large 8 ptr this year with the same gun/bullet. We have had excellent results up to 200 yds with the XTP in both 40 cal and 50 cal (10+ deer). The major downfall is the lack of an exit hole, but who needs an exit hole when you see the deer fall! Pretty hard to argue with that result. The one .452 300 grainer I have recovered looked very similar. I don't know if someone could do much better for a 175 yard and under bullet for deer hunting.

Has anyone who is shooting higher velocity loads in the vicinity of 2400- 2600 fps used the XTP Mag bullets on game?

XTPs are great, the .430 300gn is my favorite for several reasons. Mostly that it gives me an exit wound and creates damage doing it. Expansion is not stellar but more than adequate. The .430 265gn FTX has my eye though.
Do not know if it is allowed but here is a link to some pics I took of a doe killed with the .430 300 (http://www.modernmuzzleloader.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11043). I was shooting 65 gn weighed charge of BH and I think it was 50 yards, so velocity should have been around 1600 fps at impact.

I shot a small doe at about 15 yards with a load of 250 xtp, 44 grains of 4759, CCI 209m, in a HPH 24 sabot, 50 cal savage ML-II. The shot was at a severe angle quartering to. Tried to place it behind near shoulder but landed about 6 inches too far back. It exited in the flank on the far side. The exit was 4X6 inches. This deer took about 6-8 steps and fell. It couldn't get up but was still alive. It received a mercy shot that took the whole off side of the skull off. Don't know the velocity but extremely explosive at this close range.
