For a short term solution, maybe sight in for the cold bore shot. Never owned or tore apart a BAR so I am not sure if this is typical.

I would check the torque on the front sling swivel post. Try tightening / loosening it while you are dialing in and see if it makes a difference.

I'm not sure what it is called, the front sling swivel secures the forearm to the barrel though. There used to be a board member, I believe it was Rifleman, who explained it once in a post.

Thanks I'll check it out further..... Most BAR's have the same issue just to varying degrees. Several issues can cause but #1 is just plain barrel quality with stress induced. Now I have seen a few that the front screw made a lil difference but by in large the barrel is the problem. Hammer forging can create huge stresses in a barrel blank not to mention what the welding of the forearm block does, but mostly just plain ole barrel quality. Browning pretty good about exchanging if gun is new and enuff hell is raised but still same barrel quality, but you may get a better one (course could get a worse one too). Good luck. FYI, Any good barrel company (Harts, Shilen, etc.) or qualified gunsmith can re-barrel a Browning BAR for less money than Browning will charge you. The original gas block can be welded onto the new barrel, so don't throw anything away. You can also get your new barrel in stainless steel and with a threaded end for accessories if you go with a barrel manufacturer or gunsmith.. Also depends on age of gun (older models with steel actions were threaded barrels and newer aluminum actions were clamped with wedge pin to action), here is disassemble video.

Great video...I am thinking bad barrel and maybe poor ammo ..Winchester $18 a box at Wally world.....7mmfreaks post about sighting in his new scope with 2 different lot #s of the same ammo and having different poi per lot ...and he was using some high dollar competition ammo...so I guess I'm lucking to get what I get and maybe I can get Jeff Hankins to put me a brux or kreiger on it and be done with it.....Thanks SS your the man....

I will start by stating I have never owned a BAR and only shot a few while I worked in the gunshop for a big range complex. Another possible issue is forearm fit. I offer this because I know it is critical to getting Marlin lever-guns to shoot well; they must fit but mustn't bind fore or aft. I would want to look at a BAR before I did anything but you might could eliminate some of the issue with a proper fit and bed of the forearm. Same issue occurs with Ruger No1 rifles; they usually need the ejector spring reduced then forearm floated and bedded to the hanger. That said when I worked in the shop I shot in the neighborhood of 300-500 guns a year and my least favorite to work with were auto-loaders. The only consistently precise and accurate auto-loaders are on the AR platform.
Would it be possible to remove the forearm and shoot the gun with the front rest under the magazine/reciever to see if it does the same thing? It may not help at all because it looks like the operating system places tension on the barrel but it could eliminate a variable.

Thanks for the input 7mmfreak....I did have a loosened sling stud at the range...the barrel was pretty fouled after 40 rds. ....I cleaned the barrel, tightened up stud....I'm going to try the same ammo and see if there's a difference...If not try a different flavor ammo...from there I will start to get more mechanically involved with it...The barrel is freefloating already .....bedding the hanger is a good idea...maybe I can do some shooting this week and see what I got....thanks again guys...
