Our Muzzleloader season started Saturday with light rain and winds 10-15mph and a forecast to get worse as the day progressed. The rain did subside but the winds picked up to 25-30 with gust to 40+, I stuck it out until mid afternoon but finally had enough and called it. My buddy did take a nice 8pt with his ML-II .50 cal. about 9:30 in the morning, I saw some does and a couple of small bucks. I passed on hunting on Sunday as the winds were going to be the same. I set out this morning solo climbing into the stand about 5:40 legal shooting time was 6:04. About 6:15 I see a deer step into the powerline cut I was on about 150 yards out. I can see horns but cannot make out much detail in the early light. I can see he is outside the ears but cannot make out any details. He was steadily walking across the cut quartering toward me, I have only a couple more seconds before he goes into the woods. I whistled at him he stopped and I settled the crosshairs in the seam of the front shoulder and neck and touch the trigger sending the 275MH on its way at about 2700fps. The bullet hit its mark and he folded in his tracks never even quivered. He is not the biggest buck I've killed but is a nice one and a good way to break in the new rifle. Here is the one my buddy got Saturday morning.

I live in Central Virginia and I have to say, we don't see many nice bucks like this walking around here. That's a nice one.
