I have a few .458 barnes original and was wondering if they can be full formed and annealed ( looks like lead tip to me) also anyone had any luck with full form with Luke's performance bullets.

Have you tried full forming the Barnes yet? I would try sizing them first before annealing them. Luke posted a how to video on full forming which helped me when it came to full forming. I have a cheap Lee sizing die that works just fine but you start pressing the bullet into the site then stop and un screw the die to get better leverage and then finish pushing bullet threw. Works great and no annealing.
I haven't shot the APB enough to give an accurate report. I want them to be "the" bullet because I like full forming better than smooth but haven't spent enough time with them.
Good luck, I'd talk to Luke about his video very good video he posted.

I have shot quite a few deer with both. The Barnes o works great. With the lead core No annealing required. Dime size hole in and quarter to half dollar size hole out. The apb bullet works awesome too. The apb has the BC advantage by a good margin and it typically will give you a much more dramatic hole coming out. For me the Barnes tsx is the bullet that requires annealing.

Jeremylong is right. No one is annealing lead core bullets. Hey, but nothing is stopping you from trying and reporting. I wonder if the lead would melt. The Barnes are not too hard to full-form.

It could probably be done, but it would take an oven. a torch would be hard to control, You would have to go to abt 500+deg, but just under the lead melting point. Just at a certain temp and drop. Ive never tried it, so Im guessing it could be done, but it would take some exacting temps hard to accomplish with a torch heat. Hotplate with a reostat? maybe a yard sale electric fry pan?

Just did them without annealing and everyone was right, no annealing needed. I do have one question, when you use your full form die insert is it still required to adj. size since it was taken from your barrel drop?

Yes. You will have to adjust. If you ever tried to push a bullet through your drop 90% of the time it will not work. I've tried with no success.

Good I was worried I had adj. when it was not needed. I treated it like the smooth, other than lining up my mark in same spot before each push. Also plan to load at same place with mark on gun every time.
