My friend is trying to help his nephew with a Triumph. My friend tried his Encore bullet/sabot combo of 250FTX/black crush rib, had to pound it down. Tried 250 Shockwave with it's supplied sabot, looser but still a pound down. I know the Shockwave is basically a FTX/SST, I'm assuming that since it was a bit looser the sabot might be a HPH/24? The only next step down I know of would be the 3 petal EZload MMP. Any suggestions? I've been away from the 50"s too long.

Barnes 250gr or 290gr T-EZ.......... or the TMZ in the proper crushed rib.

Did he clean the factory packing gunk out of the bore before loading the first time? It pretty much bakes that gunk in there if he fired it without cleaning first. Give it a good cleaning and about 100 strokes with a tight patch with JB (non embedding blue letters on tub) or 40x bore cleaner. He will be pleasantly surprised how much nicer it will load after removing the gunk or just giving it a good polishing. I used JB on my Triumph and it made a world of difference in loading.

Barnes 250gr or 290gr T-EZ.......... or the TMZ in the proper crushed rib. These are outstanding bullets and use with hph24 sabot which comes with tez bullets. Hornady bullet is .452 Barnes bullet.451 so they will help for sure.

If they are all too tight, try a .452 bullet like the SST/Shockwave in a MMP Orange made for 50x.458s. Its a tad smaller OD than the a 3P-EZ.

My brother has a very tight loading T/C Omega. After trying a lot of bullet/sabot's, we settled on PR bullet dead center's. I'm thinking the pure lead as opposed to copper jacket compresses slightly making loading easier. They were very accurate as well.
