I havent had time to shoot much this year but Sunday i took my Slufoot Converted H&R out to make sure she was still on. I shot the saboted 195 graines barnes over 58 grains of n120. 6 shots as i tweeked the scopes settings. Any of the 6 shots would have been a lethal shot.
Now the question should i clean the thing before Muzzleload season starts on Nov 8th? Pull plug and clean it? Clean plug and barrell and risk the clean barrel changing POI on that first shot. Or leave it as is until the 2 week season ends on Nov 2oth?
Thoughts?

The advantage of smokeless, sight it in, put it away. Clean it after the season if you like cleaning guns.

I would not clean it. if you want to be on the safe side, shoot a primer before you load, to go hunting. One other thing you could do, since you have an H&R, is run a torch tip cleaner through the flash hole.

Are you sizing your bullets to account for it at all? I size all my bullets the same. Yes the first bullet loaded after the rifle has sat for awhile will load a little harder than the rest but that first shot blows out the fouling and is seldom more than an inch from what I aimed at... So I just load and shoot... Jeff.

volsgo1 I shoot sabots in my 50 10ML-ll I shoot 69gr of IMR4198 and a .458 300gr Hornady in a BCR and a Win 209 primer. And I do not clean the barrel at all it will shoot a 3 shot 1" group at 100yds. The factory barrel is really rough inside and I think it help fill in some of the roughness to get it to seal better. That is the way I look at it. And it shoots great for me too.
