Just shy of 250yrds, he went about 20 before piling up. Had a great hunt and killed on the last day. High winds all week made me glad I was using a slicker than traditional bullet. Ice on mud puddles in the morning and it hit 70 during the day. That was kinda crazy. The pic below got my attention quick too. It was a great week of hunting. Both kids got big does back home with their smokeless while I was gone too.

Where did this hunt take place (state)? Public or private land? I like hearing DIY stories because I refuse to pay to hunt private land these days.

This was through an outfitter that does lease private ground in Colorado. I had a great hunt and am trying to build points to get into a decent unit later on for a possible DIY. I refuse to hunt with droves of other people. Come to Illinois and try to hunt whitetails on public ground and you better bring a bullet proof vest and enjoy people watching. Not sure if its that bad out west, but I wasn’t going to chance it. Glad I didn’t.
