I was looking thru the Shooters Pro Shop and they have the 300 gr Btip ML bullet with a sabot for $8.95 for 15. Have any of you shot this bullet with a correct sabot??

I would recommend Barnes290 tez or orange mmp sabot and .458 Barnes original or 325 ftx hornady.

I bought some of them a few weeks ago to try sabotless in my .458 RemPac. I've been too busy bowhunting to do any testing though.

I'm a big nosler fan more the partitions but I wanted to try the BT's. Prior to ordering them I assumed that they would have a more aerodynamic plastic tip like on their package but upon arrival they have a plastic bulbous nose which isn't the most flight friendly but they are more than adequate for anything out to 200 yrds. I'm using them in a sabotless application so the .458 sizes nicely for that and they shoot within 2 ins. of the partitions so they are an excellent practice bullet at an affordable price. The jackets on the BT's are fairly thick, (thicker than the parkers) they will hold together quite well. I used these bullets on deer last year and shot a big doe at 200 yrd with a high shoulder shot and the deer dropped on the spot with a complete pass thru. I have modified these bullets trying to improve the B.C. accuracy didn't suffer.

My bad, I thought the Ballistic Tip were the bullets I obtained from nosler, didn't realize there was a new version specific to muzzleloaders. At any rate that's my testimony for the bullets I obtained.

The ML bullet is .458 also but has smaller and pointer tip then the silvertips. Would have been a bit better if the nose had a bit more ogive like the 325gr FTX. Jim Shockey is putting his name on it so that turns me off.
The CT/BT silvertip like Smokeater shows is a slammer at less then 200yds and guys seem to get pretty good accuracy with them. For longer then 200yds I would still think Lukes 310gr APB or the 325gr FTX are the leaders in the .458 crowd. The BO is still a good bullet but to me it seems they are not as accurate past 200yds as the 310 or 325. I know several 45-70 guys that shoot BPCR long range and are not using the BOs anymore.

Rossman you are right about Shockey, would put his name on anything for money. His Shockey powder for ML is terrible. Got to give the man his dues in one way. He makes beautiful babies. Meet his daughter, Eva?, a couple years ago at the Dixie Deer Classic. Drop Dead BEAUTIFUL, no ground shrinkage in the looks department. She was also very pleasant to talk with. Still have our picture on my cell.
