I received a tungsten bushing plug from Jeff for my Hankins Custom Muzzleloader about a week and a half ago, but just got a chance to shoot it today. First of all the plug looks like the rest of Jeff's work, top notch stuff. Jeff wanted me to take the plug out after 10 or so shots to check for cracking or any sign of failure. After firing 10 shots of 78gr IMR4198 and 275 BE's I took the plug out and inspected it with a magnifing glass, no signs of failure at all. I did notice that at 200 yards I did shoot 1 inch lower than I normally do, but this is the coldest day that I have shot this rifle. Groups were pretty impressive for the gusty winds that we had today in East Tennessee. I shot about a 1 inch center to center group at 200 and a 2 hole 3 shot group at 125 yards with 1/8 of an inch between the two. All together today I shot 30 shots out of this gun. I took the plug out at the end of the day, shot it out with some brake cleen, no signs at all of failure. It looks like Jeff has got this thing figured out. Taking my daughter on a juvenile hunt this weekend. She is shooting a .243 Then the weekend after that, something is going to die with this muzzleloader!
A big thanks to Jeff for his skills and willingness to share and help others on this board!!! Kyle
