I put a new scope on the Remington 700 after last hunting season. I discovered I don't have any power and no one around here has any H4198 in stock, I do however have IMR 4198. I wanted to sight in and hunt in three days.
Can someone tell me what the equivalent load would be using IMR 4198, or if they have a fantastic load I should try. I am currently shooting a Rem 700, 25" Pac nor, Hornady 200 gr. XTP bullets, 60.5 gr of H4198.
Thank you for any input.

Use it, a grain or two more than your H4198 load should be very very very close.

Thanks for the input, I will start at 60.5 and work up to 62.5 gr. stopping when I get a decent group, which I was easily getting with the other powder.

You'll have no problems. They are almost directly interchangeable.

Some say there is a grain or two difference but I have used them interchangeably without any real difference. Now I am not shooting monster loads however.

I have shot both powders side by side many times and other than the length of the powder sticks the chronograph and accurac y results are identical. The Hodgedon's will meter more easily thru a powder measure so that is my preference. Outside of that, for all intents and purpose they are the same. Richard
