Have you priced their non resident licenses and permits? Non residents have to apply earlier in the year to get a buck tag. Having lived there for 30 years you'd think they would grand father me in

Are these wild deer or genetically bred? Says 100% fair chase on the site, I take that to mean- no high fence, but I think it was with an outfitter so who knows what they are feeding.

I seen a show at my dads before that that was pen raising some upper 300" racks. That is just plain disgusting looking. Definitely eating from the same plate as the top pro bodybuilders of today. Give me a plane jane typical 8, 10, 12 and I will be happy. I killed a nice deer in 05, one side is typical, other side is non typical exploded down around skull. Nice conversation piece but ugly as heck as far as I am concerned. To each his own.

Yep those are stupid! I like it when they show the deer can't even hold it's head up straight because of so much bone. Just retarded.

Fair chase and bred differently are two different things. With all the super bucks that people have....and selling their semen to other deer farms....is what makes those un-realistic monster bucks. Genetically steered intp massiveness. Now these bucks will, or already have made several donations to the sperm bank to FURTHER enhance the racks.
Pheasant hunting birds that were released 8 hours ago is probably legally defined as "fair Chase". These deer may have been hunted with no fences but I suspect they were all bottle fed by hand when they were fawns and grew up in a pen around people. If shooting one of these for your wall makes you proud than you probably wouldn't get much respect from the guys I hunt with and many of you that hunt...for real.
Very sad. It sure taints what the real trophies are. I'll take a hard earned, long waited chance at a 150 class 10 point with my bow, right here in western NY, where we get hunted very hard....over someone paying me $10,000 to go shoot one of these "fair chase" deer.
This is just my opinion....don't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers.

That deer must have been in a deer farm that you can chase them around. We have some nice deer here but there are high fenced farms that they use for hunting shows too. There are some wild deer that are big but they are scarce. Mostly deer that escaped from a farm or they let them loose or was bought and let free. To get some bigger genetics into the wild deer here. I hunted the disable season here this year the biggest one I saw a young 7 pointer small rack. The biggest doe I saw had twins with her so I pasted on her. So I did not get a deer this years it was the first time I did not get a deer.

From the conversation I heard I would say the shooter hasn't spent much time hunting and I am thinking all the meat was wasted after an overnight in early October due to poor shot placement. Wasted venison for a wall mount. Not sour grapes just the view from my perspective.

this buck may very well have been farm raised but there really are some natural monsters in Iowa. My buddy up there has multitudes of big boys on his game cams. I'll see if I have any saved or have him send me some more.

If you have a really large buck in your area chances are there is a game farm with in 15 miles. Some time they loose deer and they get out and can not find them back. My sons buddy just got a 13 pointer yesterday big body deer. The place he shot it is hard to get permission to hunt and is not hunted each year. But it is not where you would find a big deer like that it is a area where they shoot any rack. And most are small rack young deer. And big deer are getting harder to find around my area. To many guys are shooting small young bucks just to say they got a buck. And I live in North East Iowa the bigger monster deer are in southern Iowa. Where the big deer farms are for the TV shows.

Regardless of your point of view or opinion on the matter the future of hunting is #1-getting kids into and creating future hunters and #2-having access to land to accomplish #1.
IMHO, the future of hunting isn't looking to good. 98% of the hunting land east of the Mississippi is privately owned, and that's were best guess 75-80% of America's deer hunters live and white tailed deer hunting constitutes again guessing here 80%+ of all big game hunting in America.
In today's hunting America, hunting has far more compitition than any of us ever imagined. Taking a kid deer hunting on over pressured over crowded public hunting is not going to have much of a chance of getting them hooked on hunting if all they ever see is hordes of orange and on the rare occasions the do see a deer it's the white flag of one fleeing. For most kids that unlike me wern't born hunters, Xbox, Wii and similar electronics beat hunting all to he!!, and unlike being appladed by their piers for butchering untold thousands of people in ciber space, hunting they are likely to be ridiculed for.

Mature and excellent observations. Kids are the future of our sport and there is so little opportunity for them to have a quality experience. If game farm hunting is all that is available how many could afford the experience? Finding private ground to hunt on in Illinois is almost impossible even if you live in the area and have some connections. The state areas are almost a joke with hunters sitting around every corner and usually 8-10' up in a small tree.

It is getting tough to gain permission without leasing anymore. Buddy of mine killed a 218" buck several years ago. He had hunted this property for a number of years-free. The following year the landowner told him he had offers to lease his property. It was either pay to play or go elsewhere.
A lot of good has come from TV shows, internet, etc., but it is turning hunting into a business also. Many feel it is becoming a rich mans game.

Come on up to Northern Wisconsin right now. Lucky to see a deer let alone a big buck. With the bad winter ,predators, and excessive doe harvest this is what we have now.
