Well at least the does didn't suffer. Holy crap! I don't ever want to be shot will anything, but I sure as heck don't ever want one of those flying my way.

Congrats to the guide! I know it's hard to let someone else shoot a trophy like that but you made someone elses hunt of a lifetime. I have a good buddy that let me shoot maybe the biggest deer off his farm (159" gross) and it may be the best deer I ever get to shoot and I will always remember it. Some nice ones in KY. Hunted there this weekend and shot a doe. Tried to get one for my boy but we ended up busted by a nanny. I have 250 acres there on that farm and over the years I have put several friends on good bucks, (some should be called huge bucks) I would rather see someone I know kill a deer like that off my farm than for someone I don't know kill it.. For years I have got pictures of big bucks on trail cameras and wondered what happened to them. Well I don't have to wonder about this one. I do have a bad poaching problem on my farm and I have found dead bucks before with a bullet hole in them, most of the time its before gun season and I find them either bow hunting or scouting. I know who it is but it's one of those things that you just can't prove... I run into them once in awhile during gun season and they are always drunk on whisky and never following the rules, so I know they are they kind of guys that shoot as may bucks as they can and have no respect for the other hunters in the area. I'm just glad they don't hunt with ML's but they were probably out there this weekend with their 7mm mags..... I told Allan and Rodney that these deer were 100% fair chase and it is really the luck of the draw and being in the right place at the right time. Rodney connected and I an glad to see such a trophy come off my farm. The memories for us all will stay forever. Well its been a long day for me. I just finished up grinding 126 pounds of deer burger and cutting up the back straps... So I am turning in for the night,,, Good luck to all that will be hunting over the next few months.. May we all kill a monster...... Jeff.

There can be no words that can be said that would describe how much of a GREAT time We ALL had this weekend ,thank you once more Jeff.... I saw a nice buck that wouldn't give me a clear shot and 12 does through the weekend....Rodney was in an area with a hot doe or two because the bucks he saw were trailing ,grunting and freshening scrapes....The phase the moon has been in fits right with Alsheimer's and others theory about Does going hot and how the pineal gland and the lack of light triggering it....It might have only been one that was hot, but she was the one that was the trick to take ol' FREAK NASTY as he come by Rodney trailing her....I hooked Rodne up on 2007camo SS Ml2 in the box and 4.5x14 zeiss set up that has shot very well so far ....As he had to go smokeless ,the BCR sabot and 325sst fit the bore just right, and the 68 gn h4198 works fine and more tuning/development will be done later....the 325sst did the trick as he only ran 20yds....
Those Does does didn't have a chance with Jeff "On his Bench" he probably hit their eyes but there was more collaterall damage

Jeff, I fully understand the poaching problem. The land I hunt is 220 acres in Adams Co. OH. Adams is one of the poorer counties here. We don't live on the farm but only show up during deer bow and gun seasons. We find evidence of trespassing and poaching every now and then. Even if you catch and prosecute, we fear our camper will burn. All the neighbors resent the "outsiders" having land in the area they call home. Most think they can roam as they please. We try not to think about what might be going on when we are away. Live there or ignore it seem to be the only choices.

If the locals don't like you, your stuff will burn or be stolen. Tough area to be around for sure! Scary. Jay

Just got word from Rodney.. The buck was scored and it turned out that a green score of 185.25 was the total.. So my guess of 200 was only 15 points high but some guesses were 35 points low... When excitement fills the air and three hunters get to do something that most hunters never get to experience a little exaggerating never hurt nothing.. Jeff

185 shouldn't hurt any feelings for sure. Hope we get to see a finished mount.

Jeff Little exaggerating never does hurt but those glasses you wear might need new lenses!! Lol jk Getting all pumped up on a great deer most people never get to shoot is what it's all about! I love giving my dad a hard time on his "big" buck that turns out to be a basket rack. Then it turns into he has a big body. I love those moments and one day I won't be able to do it. Enjoy this moment and don't worry the exact size, this deer is great. Deer hunting is suppose to be exaggerating and poking fun and teasing because they missed or something! Great deer and 185" is huge any where you hunt!

Jeff, you weren't going to eat the brains were you? I'll never forget we were butchering hogs and I decided to give up the .22 pistol and shoot some with a 12guage and slugs I had handloaded. Dad said 'you ruined the brains!'

That's a much better picture of a really good buck. 185" is a shooter anywhere.

Jeff,
Enviable deer hunt. That buck Rodney got is a once in a life time deal but the look on Garrett's face is "priceless"
