I know this isn't a big Deer for Kansas standards, but I am still happy with it.My buddy and I went to Kansas for the early Muzzleloader season (Sept. 15 - 21).Being my first time there,I didn't know what to expect.Well, what to expect was the 90 - 95 degree weather every day,Rattlesnakes,Scorpions,Tarantula's,Brown Recluse Spiders and Mosquito's big as hell! Anyways,I could not stand the heat,I'm use to hunting in single digit to 50 degree weather.Trying to hold off for a real Kansas bruiser, the heat got the best of me and I shot this 9 pt. with a split brow. The gun is your typical Rem 700ML with a 25" .45 PacNor 1-22 twist barrel and a Musclebrake. The load I was using was 78 grains H4198,a 275MH and a CCI 209M primer. This load averaged 2901 through the chrony. The Deer was shot @ 96 yards and ran off about 30 yards after the shot. The entry hole was your typical finger diameter hole, but the exit hole.....WOW! very impressive!

Congratulations on a nice deer, the gun and the load you used did the job quite well.

Congrats on a nice deer. I live in Kansas and I don't understand why the muzzleloader season is in September. It is hot.

Congrats! Great buck! I hunted early SML in Kansas when you couldn't use a scope, in 2005. Hot as hell!! (and yes, I can attest to the Boone and Crockett spiders they have there.)

Ha, I can relate. I just got back from Colorado plains and walked up on an eastern rattler. Scared the heck out of me.
It's amazing how tough the animals are some times. Nice buck.

I honestly don't know for sure but the rancher that was with me said Prairie rattlers supposedly the most common in the area I was hunting but a few eastern? Doesn't make much sense to me?

Nice deer! I went to Kansas in 2004, the farmhouse we rented for the week was infested with Brown recluse spiders. We killed 5 -10 a day, we would find them under the sheets, in our suitcases, everywhere. I slept in my truck the last 3 days.
I live I. The south and thought the Mosquitos were bad here; I will NEVER complain about them being bad in Tennessee again! Those things should have flight designation numbers, i ended up putting the bag that holds my leafy suit over my head and spraying it with Permetherin. I'll never go back before it gets cold.

This impresses me more than a giant---a legitimate hunt and excellent shot placement with a well thought out and implemented tool. Good eating there.
