Our low deer population and the abundance of white oak acorns made it pretty hard to find a buck this year,, managed to find 3 does over the 2 week season and that was it. Hunted both Saturdays up high and back all day and 8 evenings for a couple of hours before dark at my small food plot. There are so many white oak acorns this year that the deer are not hitting the clover at all,, last year I had several does and fawns and a couple of bucks using the clover,, right now nothing.
Did manage to shoot a yote in the plot, the 195 barns did well entering the head and exiting the rear of a back leg, needless to say the yote just flopped.
Was nice getting out and I managed to find some fresh pig sign up high but without snow for tracking it's hard to jump them,, fall colors are starting to show well up high.. Awful glad I still have deer in the freezer from last year!

By Nov 21st and rifle season the acorns will be thinned some,,, that will help,,, will also be able to see farther in the woods with the leaves gone
I'll get out a few days bow hunting between now and then,,,,

I always like those shot opportunities on a coyote.

Yep an ambulance went by way off in the distance and a yote started howling up on the ridge in reply,, I keep a rodent in distress call in my pocket almost all the time in the woods and started blowing, he trotted out about level with me at 60 yards and was looking over a log at me,, I could see his head and his rear sticking up higher than his head, 195 barnes went in slightly above an eye, out the back of the head, back into the yote center of his back, and exited out the rear of the back leg. He flopped.
