Had a couple of the 50 cal Optima Pro's years ago. They shot very well, back then it was two Pyrodex or 777 pellets combined with Hornady XTP's, (200 and 250gr versions) for my son, and I shot them with 3 pyrodex or 777 pellets with 250gr Hornady SST's. They were accurate and dependable guns. Pyrodex always seemed a bit more accurate out of them for me. (These were the days before Black Horn 209 came around)

i've had 3 of the newer QRBP Optimas, all of them were excellent shooters. I just recently got the northwest optima which uses musket caps but you can also swap to the 209 ignition when you need it.
100gr blackhorn209 - 250gr powerbelt aerolite or 250gr thor 80 grains 3f goex - 348gr powerbelt flat point
great shooters!

I've got a newer Optima with the qrbp blackhorn plug and so far I love it. Very light to carry around in the nc mtns and shoots great. I retired the Encore muzzleloader bbl due to the heavy weight and I'm shooting 105 grains of Blackhorn with Precision Rifle QT 40 cal 195 grain with great results. Todays our last day of muzzleloader in the NW mtns of NC and rifle begins tomorrow. I'm planning on purchasing an Optima Pistol after the season since a coworker has one with great results. 3 inch group at 100 yards with a scope and lead sled rest with 100 grains of 777. I'll stick with the blackhorn of course but the Optimas are a great value and excellent construction....

Hi, I've got a CVA Optima (Black Synthetic Stainless Barrel)and I really love that gun. I have a 1.5" shooter (1.5" 3 shot grouping)at 300 yrds, yes that's right 300 YRDS! I and friends of mine believe that the CVA barrels are Bergara barrels, just not "PROOFED". Therefore they won't be stamped Bergara. I shoot 110gr Black Horn 209, 300 gr.SST's with supplied sabots, Winchester 209 primers. My gun LOVES that load. Hope this helps.

proofing has nothing to do with them not marking it Bergara. All CVA barrels are made at the Bergara plant. The wolf, scout, optima, hunter do not get stamped Bergara simply due to them skipping the extra honing process that the Accura V2/MR, Apex get as a final step. I've shot their entire line up and even the simplest rifle such as the wolf is a tack driver.

I love my CVA Optima. Its shot everything I have stuffed down the barrel and shot it well.
Currently shooting Power belts and two White Hots. Ive tried several sabot combinations and it shoots them almost equally as well.
Sabots are much cheaper though.
