Went to the range this morning. shot some rounds with a few friends. Figured I might as well shoot the CVA Wolf while I was there. Broke out some newly cast and sized .452 lead bullets (RN FLAT) 230 Gr weight. Using 80 Gr. of 2F Black Powder I was able to maintain a 1 1/2 inch group at 50 yds. They both hit at 10 O'clock at the edge of a 3 inch bullseye. Yep shooting off of a bench rest. Am going back real soon and shoot some more of them and extend the range out to 75 yds. Once I'm happy at 75 yds, then I will adjust the sights to move my group to the bullseye. Had shot some XTP bullets earlier ( 100 Gr of 2F BP) and they repeatedly disappear after 75 yds. I guess the gun is telling me that it doesn't like XTP bullets. Everyone have a great day, Vearl

I might suggest that you remove the sizing loob and give the boolits a light knurl. Might help tighten the groups up a bit. Shooting with glass or open? Nothing like putting boolits you made yourself down range. 10

Went back to the range and shot some more. Mainly trying out different sabots, to see which ones shoot the best out of my gun. Having to much fun right now with it. Good enough for deer hunting distance in my neck of the woods. Got plenty enough time after deer hunting to see what else will do good in it. p.s. Just bought a CVA OPTIMA with a fluted 26 inch 50 cal. barrel . stainless finish. Another toy to play with this winter

Blackpowder and the XTPs may not disappear @ 75 yards. Many folks don't realize that FFF Real Black works very well in 50 cal Muzzleloaders. I use Schuetzen personally..... a little more potent than Goex, which is a weaker brand of black, much like Pyrodex vs Triple Se7en among others. Not sure which Black accompanied you and your CVA Wolf at the range.
