Most of us have various thread names we go by here. Occasionally someone will mention "Bill or Bob or Mike" etc in their posting. I know a number of the guys they are referring to but not all. Is there some particular reason why this is done? I only ask as some may not know anyone except by their thread name and perhaps some want to remain a bit anonymous. Just only asking. I am the first to admit I do not know internet protocols, in the beginning I did not know that caps were considered shouting. I am willing to be educated however. Thanks

Jims. Very good question. I may be old school but I prefer to know who I'm talking to. Of coarse I'm not a very good linguist I probably should not talk to any one. I always seem to word things wrong.

I would also like to know whatever happened to having our locations under our avatars? Those who didn't care for others to know didn't have to let their location be known. Now there's nothing.??.!!.??
And Danno IS my nick-name.

Me to....it is very helpful if we have fellow members close by as we could possibly get together and burn some powder together...I'm glad Alabama and I got together and made the challenge this year just for a great example.....all the best Allan

Thanks, jims. I now know Caps is shouting. I have gotten to know one member on another board who posts with very rural terminology, with mis-spelling, etc. We live appx 100 mi apart and have a lot of common interests. Talking to him on the phone, I've learned he has impeccable English, is very articulate and a serious hill billy. However, the heart is what matters: education, language skills, etc, are meaningless to me. He's such a pleasure to get to know. As has been our relationship. I've never experienced a board such as Doug's , where every relationship has been rewarding. This board has so many true "gentlemen " on it. Though my serious experimentation with smokeless MLing is history, I remain IOT be a part of the fraternity. This is an elite group!

Jims
Good thread as I too have often wondered how the User got his title name. I bet there are some interesting or entertaining stories that could be told.

On this board we have many members from different walks of life. I prefer to think of them as more Unique than Elite because no line of separation appears to exist. When they congregate here new developments or improvements emerge advancing ML’ing. Like some others the Savage 10ML-II fever has subsided somewhat for me but my love and interest in ML’ing has not.
As you stated “the heart is what matters” that I completely agree with.
There are times when the board appears to take on an unfriendly posture but when someone shines the light on this it seems to bounce back to its friendly normal self. I enjoy my time here in a way surrounded by unique individuals that help continue my education with ML’ing. I don’t know how many more years The Good Lord will allow me now that certain health issues have arisen with age but thank Him for allowing ML’ing and this board to have been a part of my life.
