I will be holding a Spring shoot for those of you interested in attending. I am planning this event before spring turkey season and after deer season has come to a close. For those that are interested in coming please give some suggestions as to the dates you would prefer. I will try to have the shoot on the date that best accomodates the most members.. Thanks Jeff.

So, KY turkey season starts the 2nd Saturday of April, right? But there's a youth hunt the weekend before that. So, that means we're looking at sometime in February or March. My vote would be for March 28... as late in the winter as possible.

My vote would be for March 28... as late in the winter as possible. From above quote, same here in Virginia. March be OK. For me trapping season last until end of Feb. plus camping in Feb. can be kind of gruesome. March stands a chance of being lots better weather. As I posted in one of the slufoot threads, how about a class shoot for conversions. I think surprises would be in store if some guys show up with conversions. If I make it that is one of the guns I'll bring. And if it's not too invasive how about some pix of the guns that show up. Eye candy is always a treat and lots of guys aren't able to make the trip. Will try to make it this time. Starting to plan now. 10

Where in Ky are u located? This summer's shoot was on Jeff's farm about an hour south of Cincinnati, or about 10 miles NNE of Cynthiana, Kentucky.

Please remember these shoots I have are for fun and learning.. No real competition, only friendly bragging rights and knowledge shared. I did learn a few things at the Friendship National Muzzle loading shoot,, as to how to set up a match, and with Bestill's help we can make this a very fun outing for everyone.. I will try to have Chickens, pigs, rams. and groundhogs at the next shoot.
Camping in March could be a challenge in it's self.. We will need cabin tents with heaters and wood burning stoves. I think it will be a lot of fun. Just like camping out west on an Elk hunt but we will be shooting steel instead and everyone will get a shot at the trophy.
As for food, this time I am thinking of a huge pot of beans kept warm over a fire and all you can eat cornbread. I will take any suggestions you guys have as for food and survival needs to make it through a night of below freezing temperatures... Jeff.

Early March is very bad for Luke and anyone thinking of hunting axis deer. I would prefer April.

This may be a good place for solo tents.. Soon as a date is set I will know whether I can commit, sounds like a good time for sure!

It is too hard to say whether or not I will be around this far out. Nail down a date so I can fight for a chance at attending. Pending something keeping me from attending I will be there and hopefully with a new bullet.
Shooting at some matches is a benefit for anyone wishing to run an event. There are guys out there who make a portion of their living (or all of it) as Match Directors and their events are flawless. Shooting matches has allowed me to plan much more effective training for my guys. It's nice to see what right looks like.

I guess if we are voting I vote for April too. I lived outside for all of January, February, and the first week of March this year and it was pretty miserable.

In Alabama out turkey season starts around march 20 th and ends last of April.
I will attend. My only request is for it to be 1st or 2nd weekend of whatever month.
If its half as much fun as the last it will be worth the 9 hr drive for me
Big fire and a sleeping bag good for me. Or there is always the roach motel (which I heard wasn't to bad) 10 miles down road.
Soon as a date is figured out I will start making plans to attend.

A night egg shoot would be fun. I can bring lots of deer meat so we can do deer on a stick over the open fire, good stuff, uh, that's if I even kill a deer this year...LOL

March 28th will probably be opening day of Turkey here in Tn. My vote is March 21st. I'll be there whatever day Jeff decides on though. Too much fun to pass up. March is good camping weather in my opinion. Cool weather and no skeeters! Kyle

Just the youth day will be important for me. Retired and try to burn my turkey tags in the fall anyway. Sooner a date announced the better. Will try to get some of the braggers around here to attend. Plus if I start now may have a new toy to try. Hope all well. 10

Set a date and I'll be there hopefully.
I just couldn't get up for the August shoot, I hate 90 plus temps.

No updates yet.. Wanting to narrow it down but don't want to interfere with turkey hunting seasons and kids in school. I will probably do it in April just to be sure night temps won't be to low for the campers.. Also I want to clear out some more trees so we can get 400 yards or close to it and I would like to build a permanent roof over the benches and maybe add one or two more.. Any of you local guys that would like to help can contact me and we will arrange a date to do some of this.... Thanks a lot... Jeff.
