Guys.
I need to find a good scope for my 416. I have a Sightron 8-32X56 on it now with a 1/8 dot reticle and love it,, only problem is you can not see the dot in low light. So it will not do me any good hunting over fields when 90% of my shots will be at last light....
My requirements for the new scope is: 1. Hi magnification. 2. 30 mm tube or bigger. 3. Lighted reticle. 4. Second focal plane.
I ordered a Vortex Viper PST in 6-24X50 but it is backordered for 6-8 weeks. Can't wait that long.
I looked at the Burris XTRll but it is only available in FFP and I don't like a FFP scope.
Do you guys have any other options I could look at. I would like to keep the cost under $1200.00 So nightforce is out.
Thanks for your ideas. Jeff.

I will keep my order in place and stock the scope when it gets here. I order direct from Vortex and I try to keep several here at all times so one more will not hurt me. But thanks for looking it up at midway..... Jeff.

Jeff, I can loan you a FFP version of the Vortex you want until your other scope comes in. I will also look at what I have at home with lit reticles.

What about one of those add on reticle illuminators? I've never used one and have no idea on the quality but this seems to be what they were made for.

The Weaver Classic Extremes that Natchez sells are a lot of bang for the buck and are available in 6-24 and 8-32X50. They pretty much meet your specs for $350.

Jeff I have a 6.5x20x50 Zeiss with qrw rings you could throw on your rig if you needed to... sorry no illumination though......

I have a number of the Classic Extremes. They are good scopes, especially for the money.

I have several scopes here that I could use,, I am just searching for other choices... Nightforce, Sightron and Vortex are my favorite scopes. Was just wondering if there were any other options. If Sightron made the 8-32X56 with a lighted reticle I would have it ordered by now. It this time they offer it in a 6-24 and a 10-50.. As soon as I order one of them the 8-32 will be on the market. I might take my 8-32X56 NSX off my 338 Lapua Rouge and use it, I just don't like switching back and forth. Once I have it dialed in I like to leave it alone...
Thanks for the input.... Jeff.

I've been really impressed with my Weaver Super Slam Euro so far for the money, it may not be equal to some of the others mentioned here but for the money I'd bet they are hard to beat. I'm ready to click the order button for another one very soon... This time, I'll get the illuminated version.

There is no catch in my opinion. Just comparable to a scope that costs at least half again if not twice as much. A bunch of us long time members have them because of the value.

It might be expensive but worth every penny if you used one you would see why they are used by so many. I could not believe I would spend that much on a scope when I bought my first, but now have Two.

Weaver's Classic Extreme was the predecessor of the new Super Slam and Tactical scopes. 4" eye relief, 30mm tubes, 4X erectors, big objectives with excellent glass (maybe a notch below SIII) for great low light performance and available with illuminated SFP reticles (illuminated dot). When Weaver dropped them from the line-up Natchez sold a ton of them at the reduced price, the original MSRP was like $1k and Natchez was selling them for like $323. I know of guys who bought 5 or 6 and guys around here bought quite a few. Natchez wanted more and made a deal with Weaver to have limited production continued but to meet the price Natchez wanted they are now made in the Philippines instead of Japan, different turrets and the glass supposedly is changed from high end Japanese to high end Chinese (Leupold VX-3s and lower have Chinese glass). I have a Japanese 2.5-10X56 WCE and I'll probly be buried with it. I've only known of one going bad belonging to a boardmember and Weaver fixed it and had it back to him in less then 3 weeks.
Weaver relized it was a mistake to drop the line and came out with the Super Slam Euro the following year to replace it. They use the guts out of the Tactical line so the Euros have a FFP reticle.
