I was aiming small but didn't connect that small. I noted these are a little low and to the left, but I anticipated that from the other day when I was shooting the 250FTX's just wanted to see what my groups might be. Will compensate later this month. The wife has banned me from shooting at the house anymore. Crazy horse factor.
The load today, which may be my standard, was a 275BE with 60gr IMR4198 .060 veg and Win. 209 Sized to .4490. Bullet went down easily much like Hankins' bullets. .040 tungsten bushing with a 5/32 X 11/32 flash hole. No bulging at all. Life is good
Gotta get me some more of those Parker's. Don't know what happened with #4 shot. Still represents a warm gut pile.

Wives are a dime a dozen. Lol. I I could shoot where I live wife would be happy. I have to drive an hour to shoot. She can't keep an eye on me that way.

Wives are a dime a dozen. Lol. That's the purchase price. Much more expensive to get rid of

Better push them down a little tighter if you want to tighten that group up!

Jeffs are not tight at all and his groups were unchallenged?

Guess I'm banking on the difference in ignition systems and the less swift kick in the rear a 60gr charge produces.

Better push them down a little tighter if you want to tighten that group up! I would say that's an option to try and see how it effects groups...Wool wads might help also....He just started to shoot it a couple days ago..its just getting fouled....

Is it common for a wool wad to be more accurate than veggie wads in new barrels? The reason I ask, I am a couple range sessions in to my first smokeless and was having a tough time getting good sabotless groups with veggie wads. After getting saboted Barnes grouping well, I went back to try a sabotless group but this time with a dry wool wad and it turned out much better than my veggie results. This was using a Mcgowen barrel, 250 tez lightly knurled and 4759/4198 duplex. Bryan

Bfish22, there are just too many variables for much of any of this to be "common". I got the opposite results with a McGowen barrel. Vertical stringing with wool wads, but a tight group with veggies. Go figure! Even with all the advancements, it's still "what your particular front-stuffer likes".

And yeah the wool wads do stink a little Sometimes they have been found to be the missing link for tight group....HillBill had a build that responded better with them and IIRC it was a Mcgowen with the 275be or mh load out of the box bore....Like Danno said and it has been shown here many times that each barrel has it's own flavor that it likes the best....It shows up more profoundly in the .50s.....Sometimes they help..sometimes they don't.....

Every barrel can be different but I have had better success with the veggie wads.

I'm gonna give the wool a try, with some of other bullets besides the high dollar Parkers anyway. Just to cover all bases. I'm really exited about trying out some duplex loads too. 5/55 4759/4198 this is what I like about this hobby, all the variables and possibilities.
With my flash hole slightly enlarged and the 040 bushing may also try some heavier charges
