Ok, so sizing the .375 bullets is a huge pain for whatever reason. For now I'm not shooting monos so I can't anneal to make them slide through like butter. This is my next attempt as foolish as it looks, hopefully it will help. If this fails me I'm getting a redding ultra mag press.

Better watch the cabinet and wall its attached to....I've had to back the die out an inch and you get more mechanical advantage .....

Myers129
Would you consider a 2-step staging for diameter reduction or does it have to be a one shot deal?

Not shooting mono: Jacketed bullets can be "annealed" but it's a more precision game and most guys are trying to make the lead alloys harder or tougher not softer. If you want more info on annealing bullets jump over to castboolits.gunloads.com/forum.php there is all the info you need there on "annealing" lead bullets. As added info you might look at the "swaging" forum there. Them guys mash cylinders of lead/alloy and brass/copper sleeve and such into formed bullets. Hope this helps some. 10

If you don't anneal them then I don't think you can get them to obturate...that's the hurdle others here are facing sub.45 cal 45OMEGA anneals all the barnes and ceb's he shoots out of his .40....You are going into no mans land an annealed bullit imo can only help on your quest...........

When I sized my .375s full formed I could not do it with the rock chucker. I got an arbor press, 2 ton I think, and it went well. These were not monos but partitions etc.

is the bore on the sizing die out of center or is it an obtuse allusion?

I broke the handle on my Rockchucker on the second .416 375 grain CEB I tried to size. The bullet wasn't annealed. I went and bought a Redding Ultra mag and I can size .416 375 CEBs unannealed. As well as 400 TSXs, and 450 Rocky Mountain Match Hunters.
I like the idea.

Bore is centered in the die. Wow Josh! I bent mine severely, but to break one off! You da man! I think you have the right idea with the redding, I myself don't like an arbor press but I feel like I'm gonna clap out my rockchucker even with this bar.... Tell you what, if you get your finger in the wrong place with this bar, that finger is gonna be gone! Ok have to admit I had to look up this dirk diggler character. Laughed till it hurt after I read the Wikipedia excerpt.

Ya, I think I ate a few too many spoonfuls of Wheaties that morning when I broke the handle. They took the Rockchucker back no questions asked.

If you handed me a piece of cast iron and steel and said in a deep caveman voice....
Me broke this, take back give new one!
I wouldn't ask any questions either! All kidding aside, you aren't annealing your match hunters in .416 for obturation are you?

I haven't annealed any Match Hunters. I started to anneal some of the CE's, but I haven't shot very many of them.

Stripper in a can, coming to a convenience store near you! I'll never have to work again once it is perfected. Guy are you eyeing my background like dannoboone does? . Gotta see what the other folks have laying around their work benches!

I got an arbor press, 2 ton I think, and it went well. +1 It's big, it's bulky, it's heavy, but 310APB's and 300gr TSX's (annealed) now slide through the FF die with ease, and I have yet to install the anchor bolts! You'd be surprised how many other projects the little monster comes in handy for. What's in the brown paper bag?

Ed, even with the die turned to 0 they go thru pretty darn hard. Unfortunately I need them at 1.5 or smaller to get down the clean bore... Probably gonna need a better mousetrap for this caliber.

I am not implying that the adjustable dies are in any way fragile, but everything does have a breaking point. Has anyone asked Tom how much pressure is too much for everyday usage?
Kind of like your rifle, 70kpsi may not be too much as an accidental charge, but if you over stress your rifle on every shot eventually you may not like the results.
