Several of you have asked for pictures of the Encore conversion I have been doing, So I have taken a few and uploaded them here. Above is the two rifles I convereted for Bob Parker. Above is a picture of the 45x209 barrel with the plug installed. Above is a picture of the primer installed. Above is a picture of the Encore 45/70 conversion with the plug installed. Above is the primer in place.

Above is the fired primer module, ejected, just put it in your pocket and re-prime it as many times as you want. Jeff.

Jeff,
Would you be able to take another barrel, say a Brux or Kreiger, weld on an appropriate lug for the recv'r & stud for the forend and make that work?

Very cool! Jeff do you make a de-priming gadget for this as well? Also, could we assume that you can also do this on a CVA Apex 45-70? Is there a vent liner or bushing in this plug? (Probably not, but I guess I should have asked, is it possible to put a bushing in it)
Thanks in advance, Guy

If you can find the lower lug I would say , yes. I saw them somewhere, but can't remember where. I can weld it on if you can find the lug. Jeff.

What's the cost of the conversion, assuming one has a TC 45/70 they want to convert?

(Probably not, but I guess I should have asked, is it possible to put a bushing in it) Thanks in advance, Guy Had several ask about the Apex, but I have nt done one or seen one. If I saw it I would be able to tell you for sure. I am working on a bushing plug for those of you that need one. It will cost a bit more money so if you don't shoot alot your best bet would be to stay with the standard plug that will last hundres of shots, but not thousands....Jeff. The 45/70 kick the primer modules out like it would if it had a case in the chamber. The 45x209 barrel needs a small prying tool like a eye glass screw driver or pocket knife. It don't take much to pop them out. As for De-priming the brass. I use a 1/16 punch and a decapping stand. Knock out the primers and re-prime with any priming tool used with the 45/70 case head. Jeff

Jeff are these larger priming modules than your CF builds use? You said 45/70 shell holder so I assume you went this route to use the ejector.

Its a Smokeless powder conversion and I have seen numerous builds featured here and you (Richard) have said nothing about them.. Until I post one, then youre all over it... Do I sense some kind of inferiority complex or what? I am not selling this rifle just passing out good, free knowledge, Jeff.

I see most builders put their creations in this section. I was one of the several that asked to see the pics. What's the deal with this place lately? Dang.

Here are the Encore lugs.https://shop.pacifictoolandgauge.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&zenid=nmvon9h4bttf20hmcqnsof2kp6&keyword=encore+lug Have to be TIG welded. The hard part to find are the locking bolts, maybe Bellm or MGM could provide them. I have one of the lugs and they seem to be very well made.Nice looking Encore's. I really like the priming system. The company is Pacific tool and Gauge.

Bill is really good about putting his builds where they "belong" unfortunately I miss more of his posts because it is a less traveled section. I prefer a general area posting like we have had recently but 50% of you probably don't.

Ping, Richard has been around a long time here and has put in his worth of the work. He puts a lot of rounds downrange for the everyday guys. He doesn't do the fancy loads with high dollar bullets, he just shoots a lot and reports for all the hunting types. Even though hunting isn't his thing from what I've read?

Nice Encore conversion Hank. Could you do something like that with a SS Contender made in 1999?
