Well we all saw it coming, however Remington announced the other day that it was laying off 105 people form their Ilion plant. This is due to their relocation of several product line to Alabama, where they are constructing a new facility. Remington has been in Ilion NY since 1816 and it is a shame to see all of the sudden changes especially since the SAFE act came to in 2012. Even after all of the opposition, our jack a$$ governor comes out and states that the layoffs are not political but related to the re location. A relocation that did not exist until his stupid law.

Yeah. That's sad. We have a state where it seems we will never see normal gun trade again. If only we could tunn NYC into it's own state....how things would change. 60% of the population is contained in like 5% of the land space of the state. That micro dot of land and it's population controls everything for the rest of the 95% of us.
Sucks

Yeah man you are correct. I believe that it is much closer to 49% of the population is living in 1% of the land mass. We still have the upper hand however NYC is strictly Democrat and combine that just a few upstate Democrats and they have the power. I have said for the last few years that NYC should be either their own state or a District like D.C. and be completely separate from the rest of NY. However with out our tax dollars it would falter and die very quickly.

Has anyone in NYS tried to get their licence yet? I heard that there is a whole new system in place and that many people at our Walmart "don't exist" in the new system and that the system has been down a lot. Another Healthcare.com debacle.

The System worked fine. I had printing issues as things did not line up well as a small part of the number is on two Tags. It is legible, but had to print them three times.

Is it true that you no longer can buy a Sportsman licence? And that everything is ala carte'?

Yes from what I understand the Sportsman License is gone unless you want a lifetime one, those are still available. Hunting is $22, Fishing is $25 and ML is $15 I think. I have not tried to get mine yet but I think my dad got his with no problems. The change was supposed to make things cheaper, Which it did since a fishing license was $29 however to buy what used to be a sportsman is still $47 (Sportsman used to be $47, now a hunting and fishing equal $47) plus doe tags $10 and then I get ML which is where I save $6. Fishing licenses are now good for one year from date of purchase, they used to expire September 30th just like a hunting license.

If what I saw today is any indication. I think I would help them pack. I picked up a new 700 today and it was TOTAL JUNK. I was shocked at how bad the rifle was. Last year I bought a new Marlin 336. Took it back the same day .You could not cycle the lever unless you pulled to the side first. If Remmington keeps putting out such bad quality products they will not be around much longer. Just my rant!

Remington has had a tough time lately with the Rem 700 trigger recalls and their new semi auto pistol. Hate to see that.

And after they said the Ilion jobs were safe from the addition of the Alabama plant. They must have went to the same school as Obama.
The union has always been a sore subject at Ilion. I thought Remington would use the Alabama facility as leverage to beat the union down. You do not need a experienced gunsmith to put together the Savage clones they are making now (Marlin XS7 or the Remington 783). You do not need a master machinist to baby sit a CNC machine. Look at how they run the Maysville plant, they pay most of the assembly people on piece work and if you make minimum wage your doing good. Most of them they get thru the state so they have a endless supply.
