Alright, I need to know some specifics on Jeff's .416. Anybody hear what load/ bullets he was using? How many rounds did he get to fire and how did his plug system do? Got to gear up now if we want to beat him at his own game next year.

I believe he was using a CE bullet in his 416. 340 gr.

Mr, Meyers...
I shot some Cutting edge bullets, some barns bullets and a few match hunters. I will tell you it's a real pain in the butt to full form them bullets and beating them down the barrel is no fun for me.. Accuracy was pretty good with the 340 CEB, shooting 100 grains of h4350 my priming system held up flawlessly and I even shot a few loads of 125 grains of H4350 to get those pressures up there to check my system for failures and found none.. Oh and for you to beat me at my own game you will need to stay up late, build about a 1000 rifles, be a machinist for 30 years, invest in about $250,000 worth of machines and tooling and yes you will need to bring your lunch because it will take you at least a day or two... You missed a perfect opportunity this weekend to show us all how good your stuff shoots. I thought you would show up at the last minute, but nope... Never did.. Till next year, keep cranking on them barrels... Jeff.

I guess if I can not make it next year, I will have send my rifle and some 200 gr. FTX blems along with some 5/65 Clays/H-4198 duplex loads to Deadeye or Hillbill so they can kick his butt! A large part of the accuracy equation with these SML's is not solely in the gunsmithing but in the ability to shoot them. Apparantly Jeff is a decent trigger puller! Richard

You keep stroking that ego and it'll fall off. Hopefully....
Anyways,
I really wanted to come and will make sure I do next year, let me know as soon as you know cost for next year and I'll send it out. This week if you want.
I ended up with pain in the arse in-laws on Friday doing a roof for free and then I went on an almost 17 hour drive Saturday to pick up some machinery. Pure junk compared to yours but maybe I will learn something anyways. That load of 125grs of 4350 must have been a boomer. Hopefully you can get the .416's to load and shoot just the way you want, I bet you can market them to hunters with big dreams of the long shot.
Glad everyone turned out with all their digits at the end of the shoot. Always increases the risk when you have so much going on at once. Looked like a great place to do the shoot as you were not stranded out in direct sunlight.
Would have much rather drove 3 1/2 hours to see all you guys rather than 8 1/2 to see a bunch of Amish in PA, but the shoot just kept unraveling for me the closer it got. Glad you had a good enough turn out to recover some funds, for a while I thought I might have to send a donation for not coming until everyone stepped up last minute.

all the .416 banging going on has my wheels turning again on mine, I will have it out again soon and see what it will do with the 350 Match Hunters. the new barrel has a brake so it will be a little more user friendly. I think it will end up in the 12 lb range scoped or maybe a little less with a 27 1/2" or so barrel and brake. A lot is left to be learned in the .416 realm and it will be interesting to see how it works for the guys that have built them..
One thing I noticed at the shoot, there were lots of guys keeping their eyes on what was going on with other shooters and that was a big help. An accident can quickly turn a great time into a disaster.

No worries Jeff, people that don't know my friends and I think we all hate each other because of the constant bashing. Seems like you like to dish it out and I hope you are a good sport at taking some crap too. We will probably get along great and I plan on finding out. I am taking it a step further than I have been and have been buying up barrel blanks for builds. Straight 1.250 blanks that I will be fully finishing myself so you can't give me anymore crap next year at the shoot! I hope to find a barrel maker that can compete with you and your kreiger without copying. You just might have me in the mood to come up with my own breech plug to boot! I will get to shooting and building soon and strive to come even close to your groups from the shoot.

I'm glad some one is building a heavier boat anchor than I do.. Those 1.250 barrel blanks should hold two battle ships... As for the plug. It's not a hard thing to do.. Just make it seal 100%, make all your parts the same, and use LRMP and it should work just fine.. Remember that a CNC will be needed to make more than one... Jeff
