Well, for all you guys that wanted to attend but couldn't for some reasons beyond your controll... We have had a good time so far.. Great bunch of guys showed up today.. 14 guys so far.. We had 13 pounds of fresh gulf shrimp brought up from Florida by SML. Hill bill brought a bucket t full of potatoes he dug last night about the size of a golf ball perferct size for boiling, and about 50 ears of corn. Deadeye showed up with a big pot of smoked beans and corn bread and SML and Alabama went and got some sausage.. Man what a feast tonight and I haven't even told you about the 100 rounds of BE's and cutting edge bullets we shot just playing around.. The real shooting comes tomorrow... Will keep you posted.. Jeff.

The Kentucky Challage is officially over. Most have packed it in and headed for home. A few are still here and we will shoot some more tomorrow. Till the last guy heads home.. I would guess a 1000 shots or more was fired between today and yesterday. When you heard "fire in the hole" you were putting you fingers in your ears or pulling your muffs down to cover them.. We had approx 25 people and I think 18 shooters. The shootin and eatin started at day light and lasted till dark, non stop,,, some are still eatin, and shootin, but now it's just the bull that's getting shot.. As some of the guys get home I'm sure they will chime in and each will have their own story to tell.. We all had a great time and we all found new friends today..... Jeff.

Had a good time at the Challenge, and will be able to put a face to the names of a lot of the greats on the Board now. I shoot a decent group with my .416 on Friday during play time with the 350 MH,s and then used my .45 on Saturday for the shooting at 100 and 200 for groups . There was also a lot of Tannernite shot today.
Thanks to all that donated prizes to given away in the drawing.

Sounds like a great time. Hoping just maybe I can grab a ride with 03Mossy and maybe Earnhardt will want to take a road trip next year. Look forward to the pictures. Scary to think of the amount of money being played with over the weekend.

MY Take:
Jeff put on a great shoot and put a LOT of work into the whole deal, everyone there was eager to help and it was a great time for all who attended. Bob Parker should be happy as several hundred of his bullets were sent down range at high speed. Jeff and his guns have the bragging rights as far as the groups go. A 100 yd three shot group of .127 or something crazy like that and a 200 yd of .686. I did the caliper duties myself so I know there were some incredible groups shot yesterday. He will post some video of the whole deal soon and everyone will get a better idea of what all transpired.
A very special thanks to all who made donations for door prizes, they will be put to good use..
I had to take the boys pea shooter 22" barreled gun and felt like I was playing baseball with a stick but I had a great time and shot just as much as anyone. I somehow managed to hit the 4" gong @ 300 regularly and my last shot set off a skoal can of Tannerite @ 300, I was satisfied.
Deadeye did a great job on the tannerite @ 300-340 with his new rig he was getting dialed in and shot some very good groups as well, Madcity did some great shooting with his gun and saboted SSTs, he will be a contender when he gets it dialed in with the full size stuff.
Kyle had a brand new rig that Jeff built him getting it dialed in and did some good shooting after he spent some time behind it (impressive rig)
Hunter turned in a very good 200 yd group
Bestill and his brother burned a lot of blackhorn with their rig and had a good time, they can shoot..
Alan did a great job on the shrimp Friday night and he also gets top honors for the longest distance traveled from Florida. there was no shortage of food to be had and everyone ate all they could hold.
A special thanks to Jeffs little lady that videoed the whole time and put up with a bunch of stinky gun nuts and also supplied food, she is a trooper..
I don't want to leave anyone out, it was an ordeal for most to travel as far as they did but I think everyone will agree that it was time well spent. God kept us all safe and there were no major issues that I was aware of. Phil, you missed a great time..
I will comment on Jeffs guns and his plug system, Impressive. he builds what I believe to be the best centerfire system out there and backs his claims with results, enough said..
I got to meet guys that I have only talked to and communicated with on the board, I can truly say there was a great bunch of people there and I had a great time. Great weather Great people Great guns Great food Great fellowship.............. THANKS JEFF AND ALL WHO ATTENDED..

yep Randy is a natural when it comes to laughs. Jeff (deadeye) is a pretty good trigger puller as well. he shot in the 5s @ 100 and killed the crap out of the skoal cans when everyone else gave up at 300 and over. without a doubt the most fun I have had in a long time. Im already looking forward to next year but I will have something to bring that will be a little more competitive during the match phase. the wheels were spinning all the way home with new ideas that I need to put into play soon, lots of good ideas and different stuff to look at while I was there and some sound minds to bounce stuff off of as well.

Had a great time this weekend at the shoot. Every ones hard work cooking, shooting and bull shooting skills paid off in spades. I don't think I was in your alls knowledge league when your talking about building smoke poles but I tried to keep up in the BS area as best I could. Great time great food and really great group of guys.

Awesome pics of the event. Any of the winners willing to share their build / load recipe ? Yule... Not to be bragging to much but it's not bragging when you can back it up... The top five best groups were all shot from a Hankins Custom Rifles Muzzleloader. The receipt is not a secret,,, it is the load I shoot in all my 45 caliber muzzleloaders and that load is. 78 grains of IMR 4198 with a 275 grain Parker BE and a LRMP for the ignition. I claimed once before that I built the WORLD'S MOST ACCURATE MUZZLELOADER and I was asked to prove it..... Well I think this weekend did just do that... I shot a group at 100 yards that was measured by Hillbill and it came it at .127 MOA with 25 witnesses to back me up. I was told that, that group would probably hold the worlds record for a muzzleloader. So I am still laying claim to build the WORLD'S MOST ACCURATE MUZZLELOADER. When I came up with this challenge It was meant for the other builders that claim to build the best, most powerful ML's. I did not have one DOG show up for the fight and that's no BULL... However it stirred up a good crowd of guys that I never new existed from Dougs board and I can say I'm happy to have met each and every one of them. Building rifles is what I do every day. I worked several years on the system I am using in my ML's and even I learned a lot from the guys that showed up.. I might start installing the tungsten bushing in my plug so that it will last 1000's of round.. As it is now the most shots we have on one plug is around 500. That's more than most hunters will ever shoot but you guys here are in a different league as for the amount of shooting you do so the tungsten might help you out some.. All in all we had a great time... We will do it again next August so it you want to attend you are all welcome to join the fun.. Jeff.

Got back from the shoot a couple hours ago, great weather friday and saturday. I have to agree with the others, it was a great time and if god's willing I will be there next year. I have to admit when I saw the group of muzzle loaders laying on the trailor, I knew right off I was not in the same class. I still shot a lot, had a good time, had my share of food + cowhunter's share since he could not make it. That was a great group of guys, very safe bunch of shooters, and lots of laughter. It was a very informative weekend, I know I sure learned a few things. Jeff and his wife were great hosts, very friendly and He sure builds some nice riggs. Anybody wanting a turn key long range gun with proven loads needs to check out Jeffs builds. Anyone who can make it next year, I guarantee you will have a great time. I knew this board had a good bunch of guys but when you meet everyone, I was still amazed how friendly everyone is. Thanks to all who helped set this up.
