This section of the board has been pretty slow so I figured I'd share a pic of a spot where me and Dave hunt, where a SML is required to reach the far side. This is the area where we can get the longest shot possible on the farm we hunt. IIRC it is around 430 yards to the middle of the far powerline and right around 550 to the top edge. I have shot a couple bucks from this exact spot, but one was above me and the other below me and they were both shot with the Ithaca DSIII, now I sit in wait with the hillbill McRem in hopes of stretching it out to the other side, if necessary. Shooting to that far side was only a dream in previous years, now it is a possibility. Areas like this is what let me be persuaded by Dave to get a SML built.. This spot gives up a lot of real estate where they can cross and not be seen, but also gives great coverage above and below me into the woods, cross wind would be the biggest enemy here. Just like anywhere, you just can't cover it all...

Looks a lot like one of my favorite spots on aep ground in muskingum county! Hope we aren't shooting across hills at each other. Well, it all kinda looks the same while your walking the power line cuts. Very nice picture of your overwatch position.

Ohioguy Talk about a grand view overseeing travel activity. Hope you don’t get too comfy and fall asleep on a beautiful Fall day. I know if your hunting partner found out he would have a field day with that one. Ed

Ed, I can not tell a lie, I've taken plenty of naps at this very spot, some much longer than I'd like to admit...But worry not, my lil buddy is just as proned to be sound asleep no matter where he is at....He can sleep comfortably in places a tree bearing critter can't and we've both been caught red handed as we've awaken from a fall mid day nap. It always makes for good conversation.
