Spent the last week in spare time making new breech plug and modules to hold large magnum rifle primer and making new firing pin . My goal was to cut down vent liner wear and improve accuracy. Range report with209 vent would go from .031 to .044 in 10 shots. New lrmp .031 to .044 in 30 shots. Accuracy absolutely no gain with lrmp vs 209. Good test but not worth the trouble. But learned alot. Conclusion make shouldered primer pocket for 209 and.140 x 1.000 flame channel with carbide bushing vent. And shoot shoot shoot.

Thanks for the work and experimenting and posting. It does take time and money to look for that last .1 inch reduction in group size.

The TC breech plug in an Omega i have been using large rifle magnum primers in, has the exact same size flash hole now, it had when i started using the rifle primers. The breech plug was new, when the flash hole was drilled to 0.032" from the original factory size. The flame channel is unchanged from the TC factory. There has been 310 shots through the breech plug using Federal 215, and CCI 250 primers. The charges have been from about 63g weight Blackhorn to about 86g weight Blackhorn. When returning home from shooting the rifle, i cannot get a 0.032" gage through the flash hole. First, one must use a 0.031" gage to kinda clean soot from the opening, then, and only then, will the 0.032" gage fit.
It seems the plug will be good for a way over 1000 shots. There is a pile of vent liners i made, here in a drawer, but i guess i will never ever, use any of them.
Perhaps i will try ever heavier charges of Blackhorn, and see what happens. The 86g charge i am currently shooting, is too much for shotgun primers in this rifle, but works just fine using the magnum rifle primers.

There's no doubt the lrp doesn't cut vents out as fast as a 209. And lrp will hold more pressure..
My load is 100 gr blackhorn by weight and shooting275 mh loading tight with28" barrel so imo im creating great deal more pressure chamber pressure than your load setup.
So either lrp or 209 with my load a vent liner is not suitable.
So for me the proven carbide bushing plug setup with .140 x 1.000 flash channel and a shoulder bottom primer pocket and proper headspace is the ticket...
