A four shot group that is what appears to be about 1" is a darn good group! Congratulations! That being said, could shot one also have been shooter error? Did you shoot any other groups and what did they look like? Were they 1/4 or 1/2"? Part of what makes a group is the shooter, his gun, the bullet/powder charge, bullet construction, ability to hold and break the trigger undisturbed, the wind, mirage. There are a lot of very accurate M/L's out there that a number of us have built for members but they do not always put all bullets in one hole. What I am saying is that some "shooter error" is just part of the formula for making little groups. Richard

No, I didn't shoot any more groups. I went to a public range when i got there had it to myself. Shortly there after others starting arriving and therr was much curiosity about what I was shooting. To the point of being very distracting to me. I can see that's how a loading error could be made while conversing with other shooters.
I thought it best for me to pack up.
I know the rifle will shoot better than that. I have pulled the trigger on it 5 times now. Next opportunity I have hopefully I can get back to range and shoot several groups and experiment with a couple powder adjustments.
As far as shot 1 being operator error I have no idea. It is easy to tell when you know you didn't complete the shot correctly. I knew just as soon as rifle went off shot three was a bad shot.

Randy did the smart thing by packing it in, a new to me gun that's a front loader and company showing up asking questions is a recipe for shooter error.
Richard of any of the others that build these guns on a regular basis will tell you that with a good quality barrel and proper assembly they should shoot MOA or better with a good bullet and decent trigger puller BUT they will also likely tell you that there is no magic wand to guarantee a ragged hole gun. there are a lot of factors that play into that ragged hole including barrel quality; build quality; load work and of course the gent pulling the trigger.
Randys gun will no doubt be good shooter and obviously he made a wise decision to return to the range another day. keep posting the results when you get out there and spend enough time getting familiar with it before showing it off in front of a crowd... good shooting...

Too many idiots at public ranges. I even try to have my paid range to myself by taking off during the week when the forecast is for at least light winds, preferably no winds which is a rarity.

Alabama iI was at the range Saturday. And there were several ppl there. As soon as I got Capone out and layed him on the bench they started coming around withe questions and comments. And I made it through 7 shots befire I let myself become distracted... and loaded then went down to hang a target with the rest of the group got to jabbering and poured the powder and shoved a wad down the barrel....UHOH....the witness mark sabed my but....kicked myself in the butt and loaded up and headed for home. Squirted some Kroil down the barrel and pushed everything out the breech.......everytime I go out there and there are ppl there they are amazed at what I am shooting. And I try to be polite....so I went back Sunday and had the.place to myselfjust believe your witness.mark and be careful. And by the way....I am a crappy shooter....but every once in awhile I throw a good group...lol Drop

Drop, exactly why I left. All I could think about was don't double charge the barrel!! Plus a lot of people standing over my shoulder makes me nervous anyways. I have my rod marked and rely on it for every shot.
Technically the range is not public, its private, but its free to shoot. They have a range officer and some fairly strict rules. But with there being no charge to shoot, it brings the public out to shoot.
