I will be using my Marlin 1895 for deer season next year, what are you guys favorite loads. Mine is a Cowboy and a 26" barrel. I use Federal mag large primer 210. Winchester brass, Hornady 300 HP, IMR 4198 57 gr. I get right at an average 2500 fps. THIS will POUND any deer you see. It's my elk and bear load too....

That is like a SML .50 on steroids Slugger.

Several years ago I shot a 7 point elk at ( Range finder ) 300 yards. It pushed him off his feet and planted it in the dirt Dead. Not to mention it'll print clover leaf targets at 100...

For a lever action Nosler's 300gr CT Ballistic tip or the Hornady 325gr FTX seems to be the hot hunting loads. Lot of guys are wanting to try the 250gr Monoflex. If it wasn't in a lever action you could always load up Luke's 310gr APB. Of course you can handload the first one but I think it would be too long to feed a second from the magazine.

You could handload the 310 and have it in the barrel and regulars to follow. With the 310s there would probably be no reason to follow with the regulars. I have a .375 H&H Imp. Mag (Ackley I think). On a similar note they said have the Improved in the barrel and standard .375s in the magazine for sure feeding after the first even with the Mauser action.
