After watching you guys go sabotless for quite some time, I couldn't take it anymore, and finally jumped on the bandwagon and ordered up some goodies. Swinglock smooth die ordered a few weeks ago, and just got some 275 gr MH's, wads, lube, short starter and pointy Spinjag from Luke. I have a few thousand 451-2 bullets so I went the smooth die route to take advantage of the inventory. I already have the rest of the goods; powders, primers, 45 RemPac, all the required things except a bushing plug, but I have a lot of vents so no worry there, plus I don't shoot much anymore. I was shooting the 195bx, but seeing how the drop and wind effects it, and oppurtunites to shoot long at deer, I decided to follow suit and join the club finally. Boy are those Match Hunters pretty! I can't wait to light some off on deer in the next county. I have about 5lbs n120 and h4198, couple lbs n110, sr4759, and h322, so I can blow my load for awhile without worry. BTW, has anyone tried Hodgen UNIVERSAL for a booster? I don't think anybody has talked about it that I can remember. Anxious to get the ball rolling. Thanks.

Universal is in the 40's on the powder burn chart. Richard has used Red dot and Clays which is much faster. You should be good to go. Try a small amount as a booster at first.
I'm sure some of the other booster guys will chime in here.
Good Luck!

Good luck. You got my interest up in going sabotless for my Encore 45-70 conversion. I'll be ordering a Swinglock smooth die soon.

Deadeer...........Universal should be fine. There are just so many pistol/shotgun powders that will probably work as well as the others but who has the cash to keep buying more and testing? When you have 8 lbs of one that works good (Clays) you just stick with it. I guess what you don't want is one that is super fine grain and might get into the vent hole................but I would think the primer would blow that out during ignition anyway. Richard
