Here is the rifle that I just finished tonight. Got a Pete's bushing plug to use 209's along with the 25 test plug. Hope to get my die back from Tom Post in the next month or so to throw some 310 APB's down range. Thanks to Luke for all the parts he helped me acquire. New in box 700ml 26" pacnor .458 #8 contour B&C medalist model 2 stock Devcon bedded stock and base Tapered lug Timney trigger Leupold bases and rings Leupold till I get my drops figured out, then I'm hoping to find a good matching reticle in a 6-18 shepherd.

11lbs 9oz, it's a bit heavy but I have always carried a 24" remington 1100 with heavy wood on it so I'm use to being bogged down. I built this one primarily to shoot 3031 and Luke's 310 so the extra weight is for recoil reduction. I have a 10lb 25" if I'm going to travel all day on foot.

Does the barreled action sit in the stock pretty straight? With the Savages many have said the barrels rub on one side with the B&Cs.
Looks great!

I didn't have any trouble with fitment on this stock. I had to take quite a bit out of the barrel channel (itchy stuff) but I think the channel appears to remain pretty centered in the stock. I didn't overbore my pillar holes and the pillars fell right in during bedding so I think I escaped any binding from the barrel channel. I have another one of these stocks I will be fitting and bedding in the the coming weeks so I'll see if that one has any issues.

I had to order this one and my black with red web direct from B&C. Takes about 8 weeks for delivery but it's cheaper and you get just what you want. The Palm swell is a little large but I am pretty use to letting my thumb ride on my trigger hand side of the stock.

Good lookin' rig. This is a verrrrry interesting project throughout!
NIB 700ML ------ WHAT a find!!
Luke's 310 APB's aren't a true challenge for a new rifle. They'll shoot any load I've tried accurately!

Dannoboone and I are working this project together, one remington one savage. I secured 200 once fired for $16 and he was after new brass. He put out some requests for brass and has received responses, I believe for up to 1500 for sale. 100 brass should last a guy a long time if you aren't completely careless with them at the range or woods. As far as new brass from retailers goes, I suppose you already know there is NONE!

have you guys that are looking for a reamer contacted Dave Kiff at PTG? i have read many times that he will make you any reamer you can supply a print for. he's reportedly a very nice guy to talk to. i think he might be a valuable source of information if you explained to him exactly what you wanted to do and why. he's certainly knows a ton about rifles, shooting, and tooling.

I might be a sissy but I recommend lab goggles and a cartridge respirator for the barrel channel and especially if you are bedding it yourself. That fiber is nasty when really fine. Congrats on finding one so soon!
