Nearly 2 months have passed since i received the breech plug & adapters from Precision Rifle. To me the most notable thing thus far, is how magnum rifle primers seem to be far less abrasive than shotgun primers. One of the OEM Omega breech plug that was modified to accept the adapters, now has 180 shots through. The flash hole is today, the same size it was when newly modified.. 0.032". Past experience tells me had i been using shotgun primers, the flash hole would have grown by 0.005" or so, in 180 shots. Using shotgun primers seems to kinda be like running a sand blaster through the breech plug. This is quite surprising to me; i never woulda thought.

How large/long is the flame channel in the PR LRMP plug? Does it appear smaller than a 209 plug?

A Pr encore plug i believe is identical to a standard t/c plug made out of #416 stainless with a reamed or machined opening for the LMRP which i believe to be the same dimensions as a 25acp . Im not sure about size of flame hole would have to compare the two ......Im betting there the same .....

How large/long is the flame channel in the PR LRMP plug? Does it appear smaller than a 209 plug? The flame channel is 1/8" diameter, the exact same as the OEM plug. The length, i have never checked, but it seems to me it would have to be dang close/identical, to the OEM plug. My first reactions, when i examined the PR plug was that is was virtually a copy of the OEM plug, other than the size of the primer pocket, and the size of the flash hole, which is made larger than OEM. However, the flash hole doesn't get any larger!!

Do you or anyone else know why the 209 is so much more extreme in it's wear on flash holes? I reload and shoot three belted mags and use 215M LRM primers for all and the Federal 215M LRM primer was created specifically for the larger Weartherby magnums such as the 460WM because no other primer available at the could reliably ignite the 120+ grain powder charges the 460WM could be loaded with. One would think such a primer would be as hot if not hotter than a 209, but I'm guessing on that.
