Finally got a chance to do more testing of loads with my .45 cal apex. Last month I shot the Powerbelt platinum 223's with 2 50 grain 777 pellets at 50 yards. Three in the bulls eye, two of them touching. I then found some BH 209 and ordered the BH breech plug. Also ordered Barnes mz 195 expander, 200 gr sst's, and xtp's in 200 grain. Last weekend got a chance to shoot the Barnes 195's, with the harvester smooth sabots. Three shots each with 90, 100, and 110 grain BH209. With the 90 grains 2 were in the bullseye, 1 about an inch high, about a 1 inch average. 100 grain shots were 1 to 2 inches high with about an inch average. 110 grains about the same as 100 grains. It seemed to me after reading for a couple of months on here that they were a little too easy to load. I now have some of the harvester crushes to try this weekend and hopefully will have time to try some of the other bullets also. Hope this makes since since I am fairly new to this. Is there a better technique of trying different loads or should I just keep plugging away at it. I do love the Bh 209 though. Forgot to mention I was using cci primers.
Thanks

You can knurl the bullets between two files to make them bigger and will load harder and most do that on the 195 barnes for better accuracy...be sure to inspect bullets and files after doing so to make sure that file teeth haven't imbedded in the bullet......
