Completely off topic. But I know there is a big coyote hunter here. Went to woods this morning to see if the turkeys were gobbling. Only thing around was coyotes Lots of them.

Been hearing that they are going for $50-$60 a dog if done right. China is buying that stuff up like crazy this year.
Get-r-done!

I have a fox pro Krakatoa. Right now coyote vocals have bin effective with distress sounds. I have shot some with my RemPac.We have a winter storm here in Southern Illinois, so I will be after them this weekend. I think Luke is coming down to do some coyote killing with me.

Best I have ever received was $8 and that was back in the mid 80's. Last time I actually took one in, I was offered $3. Since then I just leave them lay!

I think a lot depends on region. Iowa and IL yotes aren't nearly has nice as the Western yotes. Definitely planning on coming down, Chris. Of course, I was definitely planning the first 2 times too.

$6, $8 not even worth the effort to skin. Now $60 would make me get the knife out.

I imagine Slugger will chime in when he gets around-he kills more dogs than I do, but until then... I would suggest you find someone close by to show you the ropes before you start on them. This will shorten the learning curve substantially and lessen the number of "educated" coyotes. I made a bunch of them Mensa grade before I learned what I needed to know to be consistent. Right now I would forget about distress sounds and use Coyote vocalization--the females are all bred now and the pairs are defending their ranges against intruders. They literally can't stop themselves from investigating a proper scenario. A challenge howl and a pup distress work extremely well--early and late in the day.

The fur buyer by me offered me $6 top for me last week I decided to keep them an there all skinned. You made the right choice keeping them. I averaged $15 overall and a lot of them were still in the carcass. Had one that went for $30 last week in carcass. I see you are in Il. but not sure how far south--I am midstate and sell to Gruenwold out of Forreston,Il. Slugger averaged $22 out in Montana skinned and stretched pretty furry dogs out there.

Well... We got $55 for a lot of 20 dogs, a month ago. BUT they are "Finished" hides dried, washed and stretched. To get that kind of $$$ you have to do some work, , never drag them , and be dogs from as close to Canada as you can. Montana "high line" prime light coyotes are the Bench mark furs in the US. I here ALL the fur goes to China/ Russia So how they go is how the pieces go. FINDING a buyer is hard, most the taxidermist guys will buy but you will never get top $$$. Just my two cents.
The coyotes should be in full rut right now, use challenge calls, Female dog calls, and pup in distress sounds, food sounds just tip them off that there is a hunter around... PS we are up to 50 coyotes this year after a huge effort, that about half of what we normally get, there about over for fur for the year.

Slugger that's what I had success with last weekend an coyote group pair brought them in also with the challenge calls. I never leave a set with out using pup distress #3.

Had a great time with Chris. This one was pretty much served up on a platter. About 50 yards just standing there. This one was a little tougher shot. Prone, unsupported, @ about 250 yards and trotting. I tried not to act too surprised when I connected.
