I'm going to carry two guns next week for the primitive weapons season....both stock .45 700ml's stock....one with open sights one "fog gun", with a 3.5x10 leupy.....both guns shoot both bullets MODeer,lol......For a 150yd or more shot the 250be would be my best bet accuracy wise ,But not the best killing bullet....There are hogs in the area and I want to be able to put one down if I get a chance also.....I can harvest 2 bucks in a day also....another reason for two guns in the stand.....Any thoughts anyone.....?

I have only used the 195bx in a smokeless gun, but I can tell you that the results are nothing short of textbook perfect. I have driven one lengthwise thru a 160lb buck, breaking the front and rear legs and it still exited. Also took out a lot of the spine on a doe with a hard raking shot and still exited. But I think the thing I like most with a solid copper bullet is besides total penetration, there are no fragments of bullet to deal with IF you get into meat areas of an animal. We always want a perfect broadside or quartering away shot, but nice to know you have a bullet that can handle any situation. Good luck on your hunt.

I'm leaning towards the 195 ...I just might get a 200yd shot though and with 777 the bc on the 195 start to show its ugly head as it drops like a rock after 150yds.....Meanwhile the 250be is a 6.7 inch drop with a zero 0f 150 ...3.1 " high at 100...I might just slip a smokeless rempac or remmac out there and not worry about it,hehehe.... Only uz guys would know ..right...?

BH209 an option? That could be a game changer as far as your distance is concerned. I think either bullet will serve you well, the BH209 could gain you some speed/yardage and make those longer shots more doable/comfortable. I had good results pushing 195 barnes and 250SST pretty hard with BH209. Good luck

However, I did try it in my factory rem 700ml with 209 primers and ignition was very unreliable. Many, many misfires. Seems to me that the vented nipple and long fire chamber doesn't allow a hot enough flame to reach the powder which on it's own is a lot harder to ignite than bp or other bp substitutes.

acekicker. Read some of the posts pertaining to hunters kit. It is well proven and he also has it for sml. I think it is mountman who also has a kit if you want to get away from 209's. His is well thought of also. There are post's on his also.

The bolt conversion looks really good! I'd be interested in seeing what the new breech plug looks like as well. May just have to get me a kit to breathe new life in an old friend!
