I have decided it will be worth the trip just to meet some of you guys instead of talking on the phone if I fire a shot or not.. Maybe Jeff or someone there can give an ole hillbilly some shooting lessons, will be a lot of lead flying and a good bit of BS spread around I would think...

Thinking along those lines myself. Should be educational at the least.

Remember this offer: Jeff said he would pick me up at an airport. It actuall makes little sense going on an outing like this unless you live nearby. Too bad. Iim going on this Kentiucky road trip anyway. If I start boring people with descriptions of the constellations, Fishawk can interrupt with a call to night prayers. How we going to convince Richard to leave his dogs and fancy-pants center fire competitions? Let's tell him Hillary Clinton will be a featured speaker.

I think we should have an "open" category for a night shoot from the campfire. Myer129 can set up a 20 yard target and only 209 primers can be used. That way, when Richard takes 30 minutes to wee and we shoot him in the arse there will only be a bruise.

The field where we worked is one of my old tobacco fields that is about 75 yards wide and it was 200 yards long There used to be raised more than a bit of baccky here in VA and a thought of that field makes my back hurt and everything else too. Of course tobacco is what got VA started 400 years ago. I am still trying to see if schedule will allow me to get there. Hunting and SML buddy is currently in South Africa killing antelopes and when he gets back we'll process the plans to attend or not. Looks like it will be 9+ hours driving time not counting the obligatory "old man" stops and 550+ miles 1 way. Looks like Cowhunter will get there faster than I will. Might be possible to get another guy or so to attend mostly to just look, eat, talk, learn and possibly put a shot or so down range. If I get there I'll want to camp but the other guys may want nicer facilities. I look forward to seeing how some of the eyecandy pops and how everybody looks in shooting duds. Mid August, sitting in the truck 10 hours with the AC wide open might not be so bad. Anybody have any ideas on how to sneak this up on and past the wife?? Best to all, 10 ga

10ga, just tell her youre taking a rifle to try and sell it! Cowhunter will only make it if someone remembers to pick him up from the airport so that could make his trip a little more exciting than your long haul. As long as he doesn't tell airport security his plans to shoot someone at the campfire, they may even let him bring his belongings onto the mainland.

I would like to be there with everyone but it appears tentative at best at this time. Should be a good group and good time and shooting.

Myers129: I will keep that in mind, I am on Route 127 just down the road from you in Celina. Deadeye is really not out of the way either and rossman and others are on the same general travel path. Following the primer/bushing etc. postings. It would be interesting to see how they all compare there. I have a couple more stocks I have done and could bring, not quite like cowhunters exotic wood but pretty decent all the same.

question is- is jeff picking cowhunter up at the Hawaii airport! Jeff will be picking cowhunter up at the Cincinnati airport (CVG). Some time on Friday when his plane arrives... Anyone else needing or wanting to fly in can also get a free ride ... You can ship all your shooting sticks and equipment to my shop and that will save you a ton... The airport is about 60 miles from where we will be shooting...

So I've got a ride from Jeff and Hillbill. Just shows what kind of guys we deal with on this board. Maybe risk takers are generally cool guys.

It looks as if my daughter from San Diego will be home during the Kentucky Challenge so it appears it will be a challenge for me to make the shoot. I am sure we will get good reports and photos on all the latest ideas, designs, bullets etc. Maybe next year.

I Have my first paid shooter for the Shoot on August 16 2014 in Claysville KY. . Remember the first FIVE paid shooters will get a box of 20 Parker 275 BE bullets for jumping on board. I will add to the list as people join the shoot. I am only posting the NAME, CITY and STATE on this board for other interested shooters to know where people are coming from and who they are. Once I receive your paid entry fee I will call you to confirm and then get you listed on the Roster. Please include your phone # so that I can call and your user name here on DOUGS if its ok with you that I post it... Thanks to everyone participating in this event.
Also there will be some other prizes at the shoot. These will be give away in a random drawing, each shooter having a chance to win.. In the hat so far are two boxes of 50 Parker 275 BE bullets donated by BOB PARKER... Thanks BOB... Also a DOUGS supporter emailed me and said he wanted to purchase and donate 2 pounds of the 4759 I was able to get from my supplier as a prize at the shoot. He has paid for the powder and it will be in the hat also. If there are any other members that want to donate to the shoot we would greatly appreciate it.
1. Don Garlock, from Lake Odessa, MI. User name here on DOUGS is GAR. 2. Jeff Blakely, from Muncie, IN. User name here on DOUGS is deadeye 3. Bill Travis, from Dayton, TN. User name here on DOUGS is hillbill. 4. Mark Bruckelmyer from Newark, OH. User name here on DOUGS is markb317 5. Mike trentman from Rising Sun, In. User name here on DOUGS is oneshotike **spoke to jeff hankins yesterday-still only 5 signed up. we will still have fun but would like to see many more shooters.** this is a fun shoot in which you can use your own rest, bags etc. you don't have to shoot the entire projected rounds of 60 total. example- you might just choose to shoot the 25 gongs only. you might choose to shoot the 100yd & 200yd groups only-entirely up to you. mix & match as what you want to shoot. per jeff range is at the max distance of 325yds for gongs. hope to see more dmb enrollment to meet some of you in person!

Would love to go but all my vacation is spoken for this dual fall's hunting season. This year my company took 6 days of our vacation away. So I have to plan my vacation better. If it was allot closer I'd for sure be going.
Can't wait to hear how well the shoot turns out!
Good luck

So how would you know how long it takes me to "Wee?"...........Are you skyping me in the bathroom Phil? Well, three shots may give an indication of the guns ability to shoot, but five shots separate the men from the boys. (at least in competitive matches) I only have one other buddy (Herman)that I shoot ML's with and he has some obligations due to his wife's condition so that means a 10 hour trip by myself? Sorry, not for a one day get together. If I am traveling that long, my wife would want us to be visiting the grand kids up in NJ. Three or four hours is doable but not ten. And what is this anyway? Bust Richards gonads? Hey, I hope ya'lls have a good time! Richard

Why are you not shooting at the NMLRA, 2 hours from Lexington? Clearing a field, 325 yards, etc. The NMLRA is set up for ML and shoot to 500.

Be great location for a shoot but Nmlra wont allow smokeless muzzleloaders due to liability issues. That my understanding when i asked that question at friendship.

Added one more shooter today... Thanks Alan. You can put me down as being from "Greencastle, IN". Stating my location as 'West-central Indiana' makes it sound like I'm trying to hide or something! I'm looking forward to seeing y'all. I'll probably bring a full size IPSC torso (18" wide by 30" tall) made of AR500, so those of us who have a hard time hitting a 12" gong at 300 yards can have a bigger target to shoot at.
