My brother is asking my opinion on a crossbow for my nephew. I have no idea but do know this is the place to ask. Any we should specifically look at or avoid? Thanks

Age of nephew? Crossbows have some special dangers. The string/ limb triangle can remove hands, fingers or thumbs or parts thereof. Additionally, the limbs can hit things and jerk the xbow back into the face of the shooter. These dangers must be thoroughly understood and respected by the user. A certain level of maturity is needed. Attention to detail is important. Bowteck SZ 350/380 are good, IMO. I do not like Barnett! So much depends on the person's size. So many good xbows! Excalibur Matrix is a good consideration.

He's only 6 but would never shoot it without his dad's vigilant supervision. He is already more accurate with a compound than most guys I know First bowfishing shot ever at age 5, 15 yard head shot on a gar- Since I posted this I see many posts online raving about the parker challenger. Any thoughts on that one? Size, performance and price seem right.

I have 2 SZ 380s and a 7 year old Parker Saf Mag. Love the Parker. Wouldn't be hesitant at all. Remember, there is much more possibility of self inflicted injury with a crossbow than nearly any other weapon. I think a grenade might have more potential danger.

I'll pass that along. Thanks for the help. Found the parker for $330 as a kit with the red dot. Seems like a steal.
