Just found out totady that the governor signed a bill allowing the use of rifle in Ontario County until 2015. I guess it is a trial thing for now but I love it.I got two boxes of Federal Trophy Coppers for the 243.

Last year I took 3 deer including a large bodied buck with the .243 80 gr GMX coppers from Hornady. All 2 holes. The 2 does went about 50 yds each with lung shots and left great blood trails. The buck was 40 yds and took a deflected shot off a branch I didn't see. It skimmed it's belly area just enough to draw blood. Second shot was at 80-90 yds walking and he took shot #2 in the x-ring. He hunched up, walked 2 steps and fell over dead.
You will not be disappointed if you place your shots and use good ammo. Tar12 also had some great field reports with the same ammo.
Congrats on going rifle!

Thanks I have been following you and Tar12 with the reports and have been impressed. My gun likes the Winchester 100 gr. Power Points but I could not pass on the Federals too good of a deal. I;m currently sighted in for woodchucks with Nosler 55 gr. Varmageddon but will resight around september. I have read of few articles on the Hornady GMX and the barnes TSX and TTSX, I have no doubts that these will perform.

I am still whackin and stackin with the .243 and the 80 grn GMX. My buddy Mark rolled some up this year using Hybred V100. 41.5 grns was the sweet spot in my rifle. My chrono was down but I have a new one coming with in the next day or so and I will get some numbers for it.The weather finally broke from the 90s so field reports will follow as well.Good luck with your .243!

That sounds great. I'll use a M-L when required by regulations. If given the choice though I'll take my 284 win or a 243.
