Iowa's 1st season shotgun went well for my 2 brothers and nephew. Not so well for my son and I. My nephew shot this 12pt on Saturday. This is his first buck. He had some kind of infection the DNR is testing. Hopefully not CWD. This one was shot with a T/C Impact at 20 yds. This 8pt was shot by my brother Chris after my brother Curtis and I missed him. We both crawled in on this deer and had great shooting with our smokeless mz's. He shot low and I shot high. Come to find out, his gun was shooting 6" low with loose rings. Mine was 10" high for no reason I could find. Anyway, we got him. This was a shotgun shot at 180yds. Heck of a shot. The last is my brother Curtis with an 8pt shot with his smokeless 700ML. Got the barrel done by Luke and we finished the gun. Once he got the buggs worked out, he loves it. Will post some results on the smokeless board. For my son and I, we are hoping for better luck late season muzzleloader.

Nice deer & congrats to you and hunting party. We've had some CWD in some Southern Illinois counties as well--heads of deer were swelled up. However, the deer we shot were all fine. ;D 180 yds with shotgun! Wow, what kind/setup? Good luck on you ML season--I've never done much good in that season since the deer are spooked from gun season. Mark

12ga BPS with Hastings barrel. Shooting Fusion slugs. They shoot really well but there was some luck involved. Hit him in the shoulder into the spine. Dropped him like a bag of rocks. I tried them in my Super Black Eagle and I was pleased. 2" group at 100yds from both guns.
We found 2 giants in a place no one can hunt. We are very close to having permission to hunt the field next to it. Wish me luck.

Great bucks!!! In 'Jersey you learn how to grovel at a property owners feet to get a place to hunt.

I would do more than that after tonight. Saw 5 wall hangers out there and 2 were 180+ and one close to 200. It was a truly beautiful site on the horizon.

I think he enjoys being a jerk and likes to threaten you with calling the sheriff. Half the fun of hunting next him would be shooting deer that come out of his timber. The other is putting a pig on the wall.. ;D ;D
