I have owned Swarovski since 89' but had been planning on getting a pair of Leica Ultravid HD because I believe then to be built better like Edward said above. Swarovski's warranty can't be beat though. Lately, I have been reading a lot about the Zeiss Victory HT and might have to get a pair of those instead. What do you think of the Zeiss HT's, Edward ? Have you seen them yet ? What do you think, Rossman ? I think my days of paying 2k for a set of Binos is over too. Unless something really comes along huge in the (IS) binos that is. The specs looks pretty close across the board between the top contenders I think its a lot like comparing the scopes. Keep comparing prices and when you find the right deal jump on the best one. Im going to the shot show IN January and will see what I can do about getting a pair from the Zeiss Rep on Evaluation. NOT IN THE SAME CLASS But I started this thread sort of for sleeper deals on quality binos at discount prices. I just ordered a pair of these. www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=WE94700&src=exrbSrchI did some testing this past weekend. My usual test. See above. I found them to be very comparable in clarity to the Echo Bruntons I originally listed even though they are different powers. I liked them so much I ordered up a second pair. ;D

My new shipment arrived today. The open box product appears to be just that. A open box. Looks just like my new in the box product I bought back a few months ago at a higher price.
Seriously folks I have owned a lot of Binos in my days. This is probably by far the best value I have ever seen in quality glass. The clarity is there. The quality is there and for long period of glassing your eyes will appreciate the quality of glass compared to the other stuff that is floating around out there.
I got mine early during bow season last year and spend the whole season using them exclusively putting them through their paces. I used them in almost every condition imaginable from early morning hunts to late afternoon hunts. They held up well in wet weather hunts and in foggy conditions I was able to see well with them. We had a wintry mix one day and they coated pretty well on the outside and never fogged up.
I reccomend the 8x42 for most general glassing and eastern woods hunting. If you are western hunting and or open terrain hunting 10x42 are the way to go. If you can afford both I would say go for it.

Time for a fall bump. Cameraland still has the 8x42 Dealer Demos on sale for $99. My head is exploding at the price on these. I cannot imagine how they are making any money on these great Binos. www.cameralandny.com/optics/minox.pl?page=62034 Getcha some

He must have gotten a bad pair. I have also purchased a pair of 10x42 and am very pleased with them as well. The 10x25 have a bit more restrictive field of view compared to my Leica 10x42. Also the Leica 10x42 seem to be a bit more sharp in detail all around. I am not as thrilled about the 10x42 Minox as I am with the 8x42 Minox but for the $129 I paid for the 10x25 and the $1500 I paid for the Leica 10x42 I certainly could make a argument. They 8x42 Minox are a quality Optic and comparing them to my Swarovski 8x42 its almost a wash. Im very serious about these optics. About the only complaint I can make about them is the focus knob is very sensitive. Where the Swarovski have a lot more play in them. Some might like that better. Sort of like arguing the steering on a Ford VS a chevy I guess.
