Instead of the 3rd Saturday in OCT which can be as early as Oct 15 or as late as Oct 21.....Opener is now Oct 1st and goes right to the 3rd Saturday in Nov.
That's a 2-3 week extension. There will still be alot of green in the woods and we will be able to hunt some late summer feeding patterns.
Should be interesting

When does your Rut kick in,in NY....? Early Nov. seems to be a good time in Missouri.......I assumed the Rut would be starting to ramp up in NY at that time also........ Greenhorn

Yup....
Chasing early November...full rut and lock down just before gun.
Now this seems variable every year by a week or so but averages out about like that.

Still waiting for Oct 6th to roll around here in Virginia......but I take two weeks off the second and third week of November. That is when things get crazy. I get a little crazy thinking about it.

It was down to 40 last night and we got a fire going in the woodstove for the first time this year.
Rest of this week is high's in the 60's low's in the 40's. If you heat with wood, like me, this is a challenging time of year. No fire and it's cold.....make a fire and you're hot. We regulate the temp with small fires and open windows. ;D ;D
Once October hits we could have frosts or 70 degree days. Crap shoot. Either way, things are looking way better than the hot summer in the rear view mirror.
Been working hard the past 4 weekends to get all our stands ready. 30 altogether with all but 4 left to attend to...but those are all gun stands so no hurry anymore.
Everyone in camp got (2) doe tags for any season. Couple that with an (1)antlerless only/ (1) either sex archery/ML tags and (1) regular season buck tag and everyone has 5 tags, 2 of which can be bucks. THEN...you can accept 2 additional antlerless tags for any season from other hunters. Wives, girlfriends, sisters, and weekend hunters at work all but guarantee that all of us will have 7 tags this year.
Add in a few DMAP's on to that (antlerless tags from the landowner to beat back crop damage....used only during the season) and it brings the total to 9 tags!
Time to sharpen blades, weigh charges, polish bullets and get ready. Can you tell I love this time of year??
