Right after daylight yesterday (Tuesday Nov 30, 2010) as I sat in my tree stand the fog was heavy which reduced visibility considerably. In the distance I could see movement and could make out several doe deer and two racked bucks thru the fog but a shot was not possible. The breeze changed directions and picked up speed and I could tell the fog was thinning or moving out. A few minutes later the fog cleared and I could finally see the bucks clearly. One buck was a nice big mature 9 point with antlers out near the tips of his ears. I eased my 10MLII muzz gun up onto a makeshift rifle rest, steadied myself and gun, put the crosshairs just behind the shoulder, and touched the trigger. The impact of the bullet nearly knocked the big deer off his feet but he spun around and tore off running along the tree line thru the brush and then out of sight. I waited and watched for a little while but heard/saw nothing. I climbed down, carefully reloaded the gun, and eased toward the spot I last saw the deer running. After a few minutes of looking I found one drop of blood on a trail thru the brush there. Following the trail along I found a few more drops here and there, then a splatter, then a puddle. About 80-90 yards further the blood became a steady trail. At the end of the trail there lay the buck. A nice 9 point, 152 lbs. The big gun and 250 grain SW bullet had done its job. I smell fried backstrap with rice and gravy! Dave
